I heard the other day from a gamestore owner that PS3 was not going to survive in the market. He went on to explain that BlueRay DVD technology that they have incorporated into their new system will eventually screw them over. PS3, he went on to explain, is a system that is all about the graphics - so much so, that games have been shortened (i.e. not so many levels or play time) in order to sacrifice the diskspace for highquality graphics. The man went on to say that he saw the trailers for some of the PS3 games and indeed the graphics were UNREAL!!! However... he still was determined that in the end... this is not what the people want... and PS3 will - with time - prove to be a failure.

Any of your own ideas? Agree? Disagree? Why / Why not?

I'm no fan of Sony's PS3, nor their business practices of their gaming division, but I can't see the PS3 failing in the long run. There are just way too many people who recognize the Sony and Playstation brand, and will most likely get one in time.

However, Sony seriously needs to lower the price on their PS3, and pump out quite a few more games in order to be competetive with the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. In the end, I don't see Sony leading the pack any more...... and it's their own fault. You can't produce a console that offers less games, and costs substantially more than the competition, and expect it to take off like wildfire.

Consumers demand more. The PS3 won't be truly successful until it drops to a reasonable price, and it has a larger library of must have games.

Sony is not screwed. Blue Ray players cost between $800 and $1200. The PS3 is $600 and the price will drop some time next year. all video game systems that double as DVD, HD-DVD or BR Disc players are a money saver. What dumb a** would have a PS3 sitting right next to their new Blue Ray plaer? Even now, what sense does it make to have a PS2 and a DVD player in the same room?

FYI--That guy in the game store is just a bitter geek who needs a girlfriend. If he knew so much about running a corporation, why is he working in a video game store?

Naw. I think Blue Ray will become the new format for Games and PC storage. For movie sake it will be HD DVD. Let's face it though. Most of the gereral public is so hopelessly stupid about HD DVD and Blue Ray that right now it could be run by a chicken on a wheel and people could care less.
