Go to the store and get some paint chip samples - then see what you like best - You can do things like - one wall blue the rest a different color. what about strips - the local big box home supply stores have classes on how to do that faux paint - so that could also be an idea. check out decorating magizines and see what they are showing in them. that might also give you ideas. all one color can get boring.

A rule of thumb interior designers use when picking out finishes for a home is that the whole house should have a 3 shade color palette. For example, you really shouldn't have one room yellow and blue, another room green and red, another room purlpe and mauve. Using 3 similar colors throughout the house helps create a flow from room to room. My parents use cranberry, beige, and blue in their home. Each room in their house has these 3 colors. It varies between light blue and dark blue, or dark cranberry and pink, and accents of green are added in some rooms, but it's still mainly 3 colors. So, I would suggest looking around at the rest of your house, see what colors were used, and come up with a basic 3 color palette. Next, go to the library and pick up some modern decorating books and magazines. Flip through them and mark the pages that peek your interest. A good color palette for a teenager is beige, cream, and black with slashes of colors as accents. Beige, taupe, and ecru walls are great because you can change the wall hangings on them and just about everything matches. You may have picture frames of your friends to hang up now. In a couple years, you may want to take them down and hang up a thin sheet with a great pattern. A couple years after that, you may find a painting that peeks your interest. When you're a teenager, interests tend to change quickly. Also, your parents will appriciate plainer walls so when you move out they can do what they want and keep the same paint. Try to add color on the floor, like a blue or multicolored area rug.

Okay I am going to tell you the best way to pick your colors. Go to your local home supply store and get several colors you like. Then see which ones look good with blue. You could do the walls in a medium tan or beige that is not to yellowy or orange but a good neutral beige. Then trim it out with a blue. On your carpet go with a lighter beige but not almost white. Something like a light cream.
Or even better paint your room a light blue and then get some circles of different sizes and paint poka dots of diffrerent colors through the middle of your wall making a diamond shape patern going toward the center of your walls. Use colors like Lime green, A bright pink, orange, yellow, and purple. Also throw in some bright but dark blue. Then get carpet ina gray color. Get your bedding in the colors used to do the poka dots. Also get a small bedside shag rug in one of the colors used to do the poka dots.

I had the same problem, though, all my stuff was green. The I moved into the room down the hall at my house and the walls were already a tan-like color. I got some of my green stuff swapped out to blues and purples and now my room looks totally cool.

Okay, I kinda agree with your mom, you don't want the entire room just one color. You need a color to contrast and another to accent; so think about three colors that you like together; blue, lime green, and a sunny yellow; or maybe blue, almond and purple.
I would stick to a light/neutral color on the walls and maybe a Berber carpet because if you do want to change your main color, you can do it without changing carpet.

How about a dark blue for all of the walls. but not too dark. Then for the bed and just about everything else make pure white.
Also with the walls add a white trim. put the white trim arround all or your pictures on the walls.
I saw this style on a home improvement show and it looks great once its finished.

If you have lots of blue stuff why dont' you go with a silver on the flooring and a cream color on the walls, it's nice to keep it warm in a bedroom.

If your going to buy new bedding anyway, look for your bedding first. If you find a comforter with a color combination you like, there's your color palette. You could also get inspired by a piece of clothing, inspiration can come from anywhere. I personally walk through fabric stores for color inspiration.

I read somewhere that you should look at the predominant colors in your wardrobe when selecting paint colors because they are the colors you feel most comfortable in.
