"God" (the "God" of the Abrahamic religions) started out as a tribal god of a specific people. As is usual in these cases, that tribal god was carried with those people, and every time they invaded another people, slaughtered populations, etc., they declared that their god was the only right one, and the subjugated people were forced to accept the tribal god as being theirs, as well. Think of the Christianization of the American natives, or the forced Catholization of the slaves.

Because he started out as a tribal god, the god of a specific people, naturally those people would be his favorites. What good is a tribal god that isn't especially fond of his tribe?

The writers of the bible put their own bias and slant on their writings, like our history books of America would have been written a lot differently if the American Indians were allowed to put their slant into it.
The bible was written by people who believed they were chosen by God and in a way they were chosen to believe in one God and to follow the 10 Commandments.
The early Church had a great conflict with this. Pope Peter and Paul duked it out until Peter had the revelation from God that the "Good News" was for every one - even for the Gentiles (non-Jews). So in a sense, all people are chosen to worship God.

Just remember to be favored by God means to be hated by the world. It doesn't make it any easier necessarily to be a 'chosen people'. Quite the contrary, it usually is a much harder road to walk, but the blessings at the end are worth far more than the trouble before.

Sorry to disappoint but there is favoritism with God. Jesus had a favorite disciple...John. We too are entitled to have a best friend. It bothered me immensely when I was younger but I don't try to impress God and earn special favor from Him now that I am more secure in myself and I think He likes me more that way. He loves us all the same but likes some more than others...there is a profound thought...like is deeper than love! Don't let anyone get to proud about it though... it also says...God chooses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise...lol

being a "just God."

No just God would.

Perhaps this is not the real God that you are talking about.

Maybe this is a made up God that only exists in someones silly little dream of superiority?

Love and blessings Don

God would never play favorites; because He is the Father of us all!

It is those those who lie in His sacred Name that blaspheme Him.

Thus was the suffering visited upon the Jews who claimed, in arrogance, to be His Chosen People.

Thus, too, has befallen upon Islam which now claims to be the One True Religion and the Moslems that claim that they are His Chosen ones.

Did not Mohammad pay for his blasphemy with his sons dying and leaving him only his daughters?

Did not Allah make him suffer for his blasphemous lies by taking away the only chance he had had to continue his line?

Beware, O ye Christians when you blaspheme in His Holy Name and condemn others who share not your Faith to Hell after their Deaths. For you, too, Sin.

Fear ye all our Lord and Respect him!

Respect thy Brethren for God loves all his children and shall punish only those that transgress!!!!

To protect the nation that would be the line in which Jesus would be born in and once Jesus died the nation was rejected and the way was open to all nations.
