First off, you should go to a reputable piercer and have it changed to screw style piece of jewlery. Otherwise, this could easily happen again. The piercer will be able to instruct you on after care, and sell you cleaning solutions. I use satin soap and soak with saline once a day. tribalectic.com has more info regarding the saline soaks. I also use a spray called H2Ocean that I like a lot. Because i really do hate soaking this piercing.

Don't put alcohol or peroxide on it; this will only dry out the piercing and lead to more problems. Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment is not intended to be used on puncture wounds. It's only supposed to be used for a very brief amount of time, and to keep using is not only pointless, but can cause a build up of the ointment in the piercing and delay healing.

well you arent even supposed to use ointments ALCHOLS or hydrogen peroxide. that may well be part of the reason its swollen and painful. these products kill the good bacterias ans tissue part of the healing process, these also irritate the piercing and cause a longer healing duratoin... keep these away fom your piercings no natter what! just do the aftercare pierce solution and start the sea salt soaks again as you were told when you go it pierced.. unless you did it yourself? i hope you got it done professionally.... but do the sea salt soaks heres a link if you were never told how... this will help with the pain and get rid of infections and aid in healing.

NEVER USE OINTMENTS ALCOHOLS OR HYDROGEN PEROXIDE oN YOU PIECINGS!!!

ointments will prevent the discharge from escaping (dont worry whitish discharge is part of the healing process if its yellow or green you probably have an infection) but putting ointments on it prevent it from escaping also cauases a moist environment perfect for an infection to grow!

I had something similar happen with an ear piercing. My cat fell into something really gross outside and I decided to bathe him. Such a bad idea. He hooked my earring with his claw and yanked the damned thing halfway through my ear! It bled like mad and looked awful. What I did was clean it really good with peroxide (hurts like a sonofabitch, but the fizzy action cleans the wound best). I used a straight stud and reinserted it into the original piercing. I used a small bandage with neosporin on the bottom half of the tear. It took several weeks to fully heal, but you can't tell that anything happened. Since this is on your face, definitely use neosporin and keep it covered. Once it has healed (about 2 weeks), use a scar treatment like mederma to reduce any possiblity of it scarring. I hope this helps.

use another stud, preferbly the one you got when you first got peirced. clean your stud and around your peircing, it shouldn't lead to an infection, if it swells up again, ice it for a while. if it stays red and the swelling doesn't go down then see a doctor.

You shouldn't use straight rings. I was talking to this girl, because I was considering buying one, and she told me her friend had one and she twisted it and it bled all over. Just buy a hooked one and buy cleaning stuff. When I got my nose pierced I got these cute qtips that you pop on one end and clean your nose with the other.

buy a hook stud and keep bathing it with spirits or even go to a piercing place and buy some bathing solution and keep bathing it after time it will heal and get better.

ok i have ne myself..and when i first got mine done i did the same flippin thing!but DO NOT use alcohol..it'll just make it infected.if anything use sea salt water.take advil/ibuprofen/tylenol whatever you have and ice will make the swelling go down.and just an FYI...corkscrews arent any better...i had one when i first changed it and the same thing happened.so it doesnt matter which style you have.

put some neosporin on it and try to keep it clean, and as a precaution, when ever you put your nose ring in, put anti-bacterial on it to make sure it doen't get infected. andif it does, go see a doctor.
