When Agent Orange was employed during the Vietnam war, its specific mission was to defoliate the jungles and deny the VC's cover.

DuPont experts claims no vegetation in the affected areas will ever grow for the next thousand years.

>>>Fast forward today>>>

According to my Vietnamese friends-sources, the areas where it was sprayed are now lush with vegetation contrary to Agent Orange's expected result.

Good for the environment, so DuPoint made false claims then?

Agent Orange did do as expected in Vietnam, it was tested with may other "agents" such as pink, purple, green, blue and white, all named not after the colour of the agent, but after a coloured stripe on the containers denoting what was inside. Agent orange was found to be the most effective at removing "cover" through the testing period. I've heard reports that the VC also enjoyed it, as it had a lovely aroma as it fell.
The area is probably still lush because Agent Orange was created using a chemical that only attacked Broad leaf plants, and killed them through excessive uncontrolled growth, but caused no harm to other types of plants.

As previously said, The problem with agent Orange is that it was created with chemicals that are now known to cause birth defects, cancers, you name it, and the people of Vietnam are still suffering it's effects.

The problem with Yahoo answers is like the inter net liars, people who love to start something, garbage. What kind of treatment is there for agent orange? Who is giving it? It do exactly what they claimed they would spray then the Rome plows would come in scrapping everything into piles then they would burn it. When the VA claimed I had not been around it I showed them a picture of us sitting eating on top of the chemical drums. I have seen the kids but the Government nor the companies will never admit to it. I do know when years ago they sprayed a field in Ohio that was close to one of the major cereal producers and they destroyed the entire harvest and scrapped the top of the fields and removed it. I always thought that strange it was not close and since it is safe. The next thing will be the Depleted uranium
the dust and handling!

God Bless You and Our Southern People.

It was the "side effects" that did the most damage to those who served in Nam.Sure,it proved an effective defoliant and for their{vietnamese] sake I am glad the foliage is growing back BUT how do so many exservicemen "grow" their lives back as a result of these side effects.DuPont did not make false claims, they just didn't tell the WHOLE truth!!!!!!!!

Agent Orange contained dioxin, a very toxic chemical, the vegetation has returned and yes it's lush and green. However, when you test the soil and water in these area's one will find the Dioxin, which is responsible for many dibilitating diseases.

I drank the water that was contaminated by agent orange, I have several health issues, and cannot work due to exposure to this herbicide and the dioxin it contains.

Many american military veterans who served in vietnam and in the ships off shore during the vietnam war are very ill due to exposure to this herbicide.

The chemical companies who produced this herbicide along with agents blue, white, purple have lied about the chemicals abilities and threat to health for decades.

Well, if stuff is growing there, great. The big problem with Agent Orange is the residual effects - mainly cancers and birth defects. Lots of American troops who were exposed came down with lots of odd cancers for such young men and the rate of birth defects among Vietnamese civilians who were in the sprayed areas is alarmingly high.
