I was told that I would have lots of swellen and pain for a few days and would be able to eat solids in a few days also. So I'm still swollen in my jaw/ face and it hurts to talk sometimes and eat. So will the swellen go down anytime soon and I was told that my face would never be the same because of the broken bone in my jaw. So what should I do?

Hello =)

At two weeks, perhaps you should ask for a follow-up appointment with your dentist or orthodontist, just to make sure everything is healing ok. You may need to take a short run of an anti-inflammatory to get things under control. Only he/she can tell for sure.

Namaste, and Happy New Year,

I have worked for an Oral Surgeon for several years, I have never had anyone that had to have their jaw broken to have their teeth extracted. I would call your surgeon and make sure that you are having all of the follow up care that you need. If you have a broken jaw they should have you on soft foods and possibly in a splint or wires. I would call them.

See another dentist about suing your dentist. Your wisdom teeth should be extractable without having your jaw broken!!! They could have used a drill, or split open the tooth with a chisel - this just does NOT sound "kosher" - see another dentist IMMEDIATELY. Then think about seeing a lawyer.

You should have asked the dentist/surgeon for some Vicodin, call him/her up and see if you can get it. If not, take 400-500 mg. of Aleve every twelve hours.
