I gym 4 times a week, I do weights, sit ups, run, cycle and use the cross trainer, but my stomach is never flat! Its not fat as such, but no matter how many crunches, bar pull ups and ab exercises I do, the lower ab area where I have a "podge" never seems to go away!!

You can do all the crunches in the world and never see your six pack. You need to lose the layer of fat below your skin in order to see them. Men need to be about 9-11% body fat to begin to see them. Women need to be around 14-16% body fat.
You can not "spot" train and area to lose fat, it must be throughout the body. Eat small meals 5-6 times a day, 300-500 calories each meal. Lower fat intake to approx. 15% of all calories consumed. Eat lean protein like chicken breast, fish, tuna, and egg whites. Eat complex carbs like brown rice, whole wheat breads, oatmeal, etc. and eat a lot of green veggies. Limit fruit to one or two a day, keep exercising, but train your whole body, do cardio at least three times a week, and strength train only three to four times a week. Your muscles are there, you just can't see them.
I know it works, I did it. Lots of work and determination, but it was well worth it. Good luck
P.S.- get a partner to work out with, it will help you to go farther and obtain lasting results.

Time and again I have answered the same question. However, lemme say it again.

The tummy what u can see on your body is the accumulation of unused calorie or adipose tissues. So, merely doing the sit-ups or crunches will not help you at all.

Your primary aim should be reduce the excess fat in the body. So, you have to adopt a total body work out as there is no spot reduction concept in the modern body building.

So, you please combine cardios and strength training you can get the desired flat six packs with the aid of change in your dietary intake.

You have to concentrate on diet which is less in fat and carbs. You shud give an emphasis on Protein intake.

If you do like to know more about this, please do not hesitate to mail me.

Have a nice day.

Heres my advise for everything, bcuz it works 4 everything:
YOu need to drink alot of water and get you matabolism going! Heres how:
THIS WORKS FOR SURE

this may seem nasty but it works!!!!!!!!!!!! trust me.

1. Drink 1-2 tblespoons of APPLE CIDER VINEGAR!(twice daily) this kind of vinegar helps your body burn fat! look it up. (its all over the web)

2. Drink Green Tea. Perferably in the Morning and Evening. This also burns fat by increasing your matabalism. look it up (its all over the web)

3. For breakfast eat = half a grapefruit! grapefruit is great for you and it takes more energy to digest than most fruits. Guess what that means? your body burns more fat!

4. If your really serious take a small amount of water and mix 1/2 teaspoon of CAYENNE Pepper (or more) and swallow that really fast. Chilli Pepper works too. Its not that hot and if you swallow it fast only the back of your throat will burn a little. These peppers make your matabolism go really fast NATURALLY!

5. Pick 3 of the ab workouts from this site http://www.shapefit.com/workout-routines...
do 1 of set in the morning of each (after eating your grapefruit and tea) do 3 sets of each, every night! (or more)

6. Walking will help ALOT! walk to your friends house, to the park, around the corner, take your dog on a walk, walk around your house a couple of times, SOMETHING!

7. While watching your favorite tv show do jumping jacks. Youll be so into the show you wont even realize your doing jacks! Take a break during 2 or 3 commercials. Before you start Drink a BIG cup of water. After you finish drink 2 big cups of water in 30 mins.

8. Drink at least half a gallon of water a day.

9. Eat less. Eat healthy. NO SUGAR. (or very very littile of it) That is very general, I know. But you have to make your own rules, I just give guidelines.

10. Dont weigh yourself. You will have alot of water weight so the scale might not be accurate. Just pinch the fat on your stomach. Notice how much you pinch. Pinch your fat everynight. after a coule of weeks notice how you will start to pinch less and less!

11. Tell me your results!

Crunches/sit ups...that's all u have to do to have a flat six pack. Since u said u've been doing it already(to no avail) I would say you're surely not doing it for long enough to burn those very stubborn cellulites in the abdominal area. You have to persevere. No pain no gain. Be consistent, more patience...you're on the right track. Do also leg raising while lying on ur back w/o touching the floor. Do more reps, keep 3 sets...rest then do it again...and again...and again.

You are doing things the right way exercise wise, but you also need to watch what you are eating. You need to think about your diet and stop eating food that's are high in fat (that is if you do eat these types of foods), and start eating a balanced and healthy diet.

Cut out sugar, fat and eat more fruit, vegetables and foods that are high in fibre. Eat more wholegrain and wholemeal foods. Cut out or cut down on the fats. Eat three meals a day, don't eat between meals and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day

You don’t need to exercise for hours on end. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results if you work hard. Get a missing rope, skip for two units, do push ups for 60 seconds or so, skip for two minutes, rest for just one minute. Then change the push approximately something else like sit ups and also do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a quick, effective workout that will progress results than a long function or swim.

You could try a detox program, and fast on tea and water for a few days. That little "podge" is actually your stomach, and the food you eat will stick in it. But I'm sure if you clean out your intestines, that will go away. Try one week. You can drink liquids, but don't eat any solids.

Dynamic Tension. You don't need any equipment or gym. It is a bit like pelvic floor exercises, or squeezing your bum cheeks together. Stand feet slightly apart, arms tucked in to your sides, bend your elbows so hands are pointing out in front of you and make two fists. Lift your shoulders and as you let them down force your stomach chest abdomen out until taut, and hold for thirty seconds. Feel it? The more you do it the more you will tone your muscles. Squeeze, hold, relax. I guarantee that if you do this everyday you will get an amazing 6 pack. Lots of women are secretly doing this type of exercise even sat at their desks. If you do this in front of a mirror you will actually see the muscles tighten and relax.

maybe its because u go to the gym 4 times in a week! cut it down a little bit. u r body is used to the 4 times a week and it has reached a platue (cant spell) or you can increase your activity u do in the gym. if u do 10 crunches every day then increase it to 20 instead. u get my point?
