I played the field for quite a few years and there were some girls that probably thought I couldn't commit. But as I saw it, I wasn't going to commit to someone then six months later change my mind. Not being religious, I never wanted to get married but that didn't mean I wouldn't commit myself to one person when I felt the time was right and it was the person I really loved and wanted to spend the rest of my life with. For the record, my first committed relationship lasted 5 years, she left as she wanted to pursue her career. I tried again and luckily I met someone special and we've been together 19 plus years now! As for fear, the only thing I was afraid of actually happened, that was losing the person I'd chosen as my life's partner.

My guy friends are. Cuz they are mostly playboys....
Anyway, I am not a guy and I am still afraid of commitment as well.
My guy friends didn't like the fact that they got to stay with one person for rest of their lives. You don't really like one person forever right? You become quite sick of them sometimes when you are too close to someone.
Love is a feeling. Feeling changes a lot. So, love changes in the end. Nothing is forever but temporary. Well,,,for my guy friends and I, that's agreed.

Of course. Women tend to change as soon they settle down in a relationship leaving the guy with the question "how the hell did i get here?" if you go through this a couple of times you definately will be cautious about getting into a commitment.

Honey, not some guys but ALL guys are afraid of commitment, u ask why... freedom, that's all that matters, they need to feel free to be happy, free to Do whatever they want, free To Be whoever they want, free to Drink whenever they want and free to F.. wherever they want and there's no other possible reasons.

i'm a girl, and even though i'm in a pretty committed relationship, there's always a level of fear!
namely, losing my independence, not being able to spend time with all the people i want to spend time with, making sure that my bf is happy with what we're doing, getting pregnant, to name a few.
if the fear is stronger than the benefits they think they have to gain, they're better off not getting committed and staying single!!!

I'm afraid of commitment because I don't want to be told off any more or be lied to or manipulated or jerked around.

There are many ways of committing... or being committed... ahem... and both men and women get the same butterflies for all of them, not just men!!!
