He wants compliments, and not of the girly kind.
Tell him he is very witty, intelligent, charming, good looking, and great in bed. And his jokes are really funny.
Stop press - everyone answering this apart from me is a girl and is suggesting girly nonsense. Boys, however much they claim to, do not want to hear wishy washy stuff. It's a fact of life - they want cold hard factual stuff about themselves and how great they are, how they stand out from others and how they are better than the competition.
