i have had a very nice perm a year ago, hair grew longer since then and i decided to make another perm, so they would be curly all the way long. The stylist was great, but i was terrified that they can damage my hair, so i sked her to keep the perm for much less minutes then it is supposed to be + the perm liquid was very mild itself. As the result perm didn't work at all!! I have demaged my hair and got no curls :-((((
I am going to treat my hair as best i can now to restore it, but hate the way i look in the mirrow, so i would like to have another perm...How often can you do it, What time does it take for hair to recover after the perm? Please, help!

A good rule of thumb is not more often than every 6 months, but these are questions you should address to your hairdresser as each hair type is different.

All chemical processes damage the hair to some extent so no matter how often you do it, there will be some damage.

A perm or any chemical damages hair, you just have to take good care of it. You should only do a perm once a year at least. Growing out and cutting off the damaged ends. You have to be patient. Impatience always gets you in trouble. Your hair needs to heal itself, or it WILL fall out. Believe me I've seen it. Brush you hair everyday before your shower and before bed. Brushing massages the scalp, thus stimulating the cells and your hair will grow faster. (Not over night faster). As it grows keep getting it trimmed so you can get rid of the damaged hair. Good luck and you'll be thankfull you are patient.

When reperming you should never perm the hair that has already been permed. You should only do a root perm.

omg! why are you perming your hair!?? why burn the natural beautiful hair you had once before? All for what? to attract ppl? maybe attract men? haha please perms are out of fashion. you must be old. just grow out your hair and treat it well with olive oil and once the perm goes away please never get it again since it has already damaged your hair.

I would say about every 3-4 months, with hair trimmings in between.

i do mine each 3 months because those are harsh chemical substances that your putting into your hair and in case you do not supply your hair time to to breath it turns into brittle...to save the staight hair seem try urgent or warm ironing a week once a week.
