How long after getting braces could you eat normal and crunch foods? I'm a very picky eater, can anybody suggest anything soft I could eat after I get my braces on and tightened?

I had braces for 4 years! and it took about a week or two to get used to them. After a month, I was eating everything. I just cut the food in small pieces rather than bitting into the food. For example, I cut up the apple instead of bitting into it. After a really long time I also used to chew on gum hehe...
You will get used to them so dont worry.

Ohh i used to hate getting my braces tightened. My teeth felt sore for 2 weeks after. I ate pudding, milk shakes, carnation instant breakfast, soft fruit, soup. Good luck!

When I had braces I could eat anything I wanted. I did have a few rules to follow popcorn was not allowed & I could not chew gum or eat hard candy. Your Orthodontist will tell you what you can & can't eat.

Actually it only takes about 1 - 2 weeks to get fully used to it and after 1 month you won't even feel it there. I've had it for 1 year now and still have one year to go (I have them transparent though) and I am pretty much used to them.

My mom always made me smoothies or mil shakes when I got mine tightened. Sicne chewing was out of the question they hurt so bad.

it took me like a week :( just remember to wear your retainer when you finally get your braces off! i stopped wearing mine at night and now im looking into getting braces again.

i'm thinking of getting braces too, soon.(lets hope its on 2007)...
and i say u can eat soup(too much kinds of soup in the supermarket) and...one of my friends has braces, and she eats sandwhices and many kinds of bread.....
just make sure its not gum or something sticky!
