I am getting married to an Indian Girl who I love very much. The problem is that she and her family insist on having the reception at Dunkin Donuts. I really don't care but my family wants a more traditional hall or restaurant. What should I do?

Have two receptions. Let her family do their liking and make sure you attend, and then let your family have your liking, and make sure you invite your in-laws too. Why should the liking of one family cancell the other?!! I see no problem and hence no need to create one!!! All the bestt!

Birthday parties yes...but I've never heard of a wedding reception at a fast food place. Anyway, to each their own.

Do they want to have it there for the food? Coz I don't think there's anything special about the ambience there. If that's the case, maybe you could arrange to get the food delivered to a more traditional venue.

If they still insist on Dunkin Donuts, maybe (depending on your budget), you could first have a cocktail party at a more formal place, and then a reception there. Or vice versa...an informal get-together at Dunkin Donuts, and a formal reception some place else.

Whatever the decision, think of the bigger picture: you guys love each other and want to be together for the rest of your lives. Its not really the wedding day, but the rest of the marriage that's important. So good luck and best wishes!!!

Have 2 receptions: Dunkin Donuts for girl's family & friends; the other traditional function for your family and friends. Everyone happy.

compromise, have the reception at a restaurant and serve dunkin donuts with the meal, or have reception at Dunkin Donuts and serve the restaurant food there.
