I was stupid enough the other day to attempt to wax my hair 'down there' with a waxing kit that was meant for leg and facial hair. It did not remove all of the hairs as it wasn't adhesive enough ,and i found it too painful to finish the job. 2 days later, i now have a multitude of red bumps, which are irritated by the adjacent coarse hairs which the wax failed to remove. How do I go about treating the area because it is really irritating me.

Thank you everyone

well it's good that u asked 4 help in the 1st place, but i would suggest that u see a qualified doctor. his/her expertise and knowledge will surely be the best. sometimes the the strangers u ask may guess, exaggerate, or even intentionally give wrong information which could turn out 4 the worse.some people just wanna put people in problems.

The delicate skin in the bikini and underarm area is highly susceptible to razor burn and redness.

After shaving or waxing, Soothing Care™ Chafing Relieve Powder-Gel™ Skin Protectant can help protect and relieve uncomfortable irritation and reduce the appearance of redness
Ingrown hairs can also cause itchy bumps.

While it’s hard to prevent ingrown hairs, you can try using a washcloth to gently exfoliate the area in between shaving or waxing. To soothe itching during re-growth, try Soothing Care™ Itch Relieve Spray or Soothing Care™ Itch Relieve Cream.

Calamine lotion, as the answerer above indicated, is NOT for red bumps. The red bumps are caused by infection starting in the skin. When you wax, your skin is still open in the tiny spot where the hair was, making it open for infection. You need to put a petroleum based triple antibiotic ointment on it because pretty soon those red bumps are going to errupt as pus filled pimples. Slather it on and keep in on until the hairs grow back. This will offer you some relief. Good luck!

Wash with gentle soap, and use non perfumed creams after. When ever you do a waxing, make sure you apply baby powder to the area to be waxed before the wax. It prevents you from getting the bumps and/or skin being removed. (OUCH!) I would go with Nare. Just don't get it in there.

Calomine lotion, but it's a bit messy. But no more messy then waxing is. I hope you feel better soon.

Could you go without knickers for a couple of days also? To cut down irritation. Hair grows back fast so you shouldn't be uncomfortable for too long.
