Check your manual. I was under the impression that the newer generations of plasma do not burn images. The older ones did though.

Not a very good idea to buy a plasma and play or watch games or programs with parts of it which stay on the screen straight away (eg: bright station watermarks, scoreboards, newstickers, GUI of games and etc). I heard that to reduce the risk of burn in, don't run anything for a long time for at least 200 hours after first using the plasma. The good news is that the more people wait to buy new plasmas, the less time they have to worry about burn-in occuring.

nicely lcd wins out interior the Reliability class... Plasma had extra helpful Blacks, until Sony and Mitsubishi presented the vehicle-shutter/vehicle-Iris circuits this 365 days (guy! it makes Blacks black....yet exhibits the component too!) So the lcd tvs with vehicle Shutter beat the Plasmas hands down! yet....the perfect television you have no longer seen IS...... The CRT Projection television....(oh, they gained't hook up a $800 Hitachi 51F59 Projo next to a $2500 lcd or DLP or Plasma television--it is as a results of the fact salesmen earn extra money on the $2500 television contraptions) The technologies is tried and real, good, low-priced AND.... the image isn't created making use of dots or squares (show door consequence) so the Horizontal decision isn't constrained! i bought the Hitachi 51F59 because of the fact of that certainty, then I connected a hi DEFINITION terrestrial reciever and guy does the image have real hi DEF!!! Now, i'm unlikely to get any added into this, as I see the others have spent the time directing you to distinctive web pages, and that i propose you study all of it.....in spite of the undeniable fact that it relatively is beneficial to look at CRT Projection pages on those web pages too.... maximum Projection TVs might require one restore whilst in comparison with 3 or 4 upkeep interior the existence of an lcd/Plasma television and have self assurance me....as a television TECH....i do no longer want to be repairing my television extra suitable than I ought to....

Wow! Panasonic would have you believe that PLASMA is better than LCD.... http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=5478
Personally, I bought LCD because of the nill burn in possibility. I've heard that there is a "warm up" phase to new plasmas where you keep it on for a certain amount of time and don't play games on it until it's been used for a certain period of time. But if you pause the game and forget about it for 20 minutes here, 30 minutes there.....heck yeah, get ready to see it all the time!
GO LCD!!!!!

I can't answer your question but I did hear that the static features in games (borders, logos) will burn into your screen fast. Some TVs offer a setting that offsets stationary pixels to keep burn in minimal. Check your manual for it.
