no at least i dont believe it
personality is developed by external poisons and toxins.
mentall illness is almost 100% caused by drugs and conspiracy.
but generally physical deformities and malfunctions can cause some things. those who know how to poison a mind will do so and people will use the scientific method to determine what it is and conclude that it is chemistry or biological.
On earth it is the power of men to destroy a persons mind. such power is totally evil. God has given us the gift of a mind that is coherrent.
however right now my mind is completely imbalanced. because of the poisons of sorcery and witchcraft so it is extremely difficult to write complete sentences. Generally i pray that these people who do this to me are judged and killed.
also let it be known that God has the authority to make a mind mentally retarded as if it were a punishment and justice. If a man is so Evil and has caused the poisons of mental illness to destroy other people such an evil person is guilty of crimes against humanity, even torture, and it is a fitting judgment if death is not the ultimate punishment, that a person who causes mental illness should be the victim of it.
then again Satan does just the reverse, he will destroy the minds of the servants of God in order to keep power on the earth. remember there are two gods that are trying to compete to keep this planet. One pretendeds to be god the other is ordained to be god. Such is the war in heaven, such is the war on earth.

mental illnes is not a personality problem it is an imbalance like diabetes is so that will be healed. Note some who are retarded are nice and loving some are positively evil, that is where personailty comes i as well as environment during childhood years. There is the environment and the interpretation of that environment and how the soul reacts with these that determines personality. DNA being part of the environment.

Sciciopaths are a differant question as is whether or not it is a mental illness.

Dealing with God is a spiritual matter not an intellectual one. Threfore no one is exempt from knowing God, because the spirit of a person functions indepentently of the soul (mind). When we face God it is our spirit that goes to heaven, the real you, and there is no mental illness, either spiritual (sin) nor natural when we stand before God. We will all be equal.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but someone's personality is defined by the chemical & electrical activity in their body & brain. Someone who is "crazy" or mentally ill is only like that because of the way their body functions (or doesn't function in most cases).

If there is an afterlife I think it's pretty much guaranteed that we'd all change personality wise.

I have an autistic son who I expect to communicate with when we get to heaven . Like sting said... we are spirits in the material world... this body is just a shell and we will leave it behind and be given a new one in heaven. All sickness, disease and mental illness will stay behind and we shall all be of sound mind and pure heart. They won't be a different person..just the person we couldn't see due to their non conformist shell.

Crazy is a judgment based on a very narrow perceptual view of someone.

Often the behavior exhibited is logical from the point of view of the one doing it. It just seems extreme to an observer with little understanding of the background of the person being judged crazy.

All judgment is driven by ignorance of the situation.

love and blessings Don

You should watch it, it almost sounds like you are saying there is a heaven and a hell and a God too.

So if the crazies go to heaven or hell do you sane ones get to live forever?

The One True God does not intervene in human activities. He sends His Divine Missengers down to teach man about his nature and tell him how to conduct his life according to his free will and rationality. Therefore, he is fully responsible for obeying or disobeying the commands of God. Innocent people like children who cannot make any choice, enjoy the special treatment with God's divine grace.

If a person is mentally unbalanced in the living, it means they have a chemical imbalance in their brain fluids. When they die, they will have no chemicals, so how can they have a mental illness? What decides whether a person goes to heaven or hell is the deeds they commit in their time living, not whether they were crazy or not.

If a person can go to heaven, then they will be made perfect.
I don't know exactly what you mean by "crazy". a person who is mentally impaired is not crazy. God made everyone, and he made them for a purpose, maybe to see how we conceive them.
we sometimes look down our noses at people that are less that prefect in mind and how they look physically.
