I was born a muslim alhamdolilah, but I still haven't learned everything about islam, I dunno maybe I'm too lazy to learn stuff..how can I encourage myself to learn about Islam in more depth. U see I kinda felt happy for people who converted to islam and learned abt it very well so I felt guilty that I don't have all this knowledge they possess although I was born a muslim..

Here is a mission for any true and good Muslim.

Study very hard then click on the link and refute all of the charges against Islam and Mohammad that this former Muslim speaks.

Salam alaikum, and mabrook for wanting to learn more about Islam. :) Nobody ever knows everything - Islam is a complete way of life, there is just too much to learn.

Try to associate with good Muslim friends. They will be more likely to encourage you.

Read books about Islamic history and famous personalities.

Choose topics which interest you for study, for example if comparative religion is interesting to you, study the differences and similarities between Islam and other religions. If science is interesting to you, study the scientific miracles in the Quran.

And most importantly, keep up your prayers as much as you can, and give full concentration in them.

If you want to be inspired by more revert stories, my friend has a web site dedicated to reverts to Islam: www.revertmuslims.com

May Allah continue to guide and bless you

I was in the same position my friend, don't worry. My Imam was a convert and was SOO knowledgable I felt kind of ashamed of why I didn't know these things. So by the will of Allah I study frequently now, and try my best to do my prayers, this is very important.

There are lots of good sites, but firstly study the Qu'ran in English if you don't understand Arabic.

And read with Tafsir (explanation)

www.tafsir.com (Amazing site SOO MUCH KNOWLEDGE)

if you need to know basics of how to pray
http://www.islamicfinder.org/

Other Islamic Knowledge
http://www.islambasics.com/index.php?act=lib&cat=name&page=1

Study just even 10 minutes a day, everyday, and increase and Inshallah in no time you will have lots of knowledge.
Just remember to do a little bit always, make it your mission to understand your religion.

and Peace Be Unto You, and may Allah make it easy for you.

I was exactly the same, it might be useful to watch some videos online and get a translation of the Quran and start there.

As- salaam -alaikum, I think that admitting that you are not sincere in the deen is a start. You should immediately turn to Allaah with taubah and ask Him to guide you. The laziness that you may have is from shaitan. Ask Allaah (SWT) to help you subdue shaitan. Try to make friends with sincere Muslimahs. Go to the masjids. Fill your time by remebering Allaah and being around eman filled places. Read books about the basics of Islam. Remember to put your trust in Allaah and be sincere.

Alhamdulillah.
I was in your condition before sister, and still learning slowly.

What amu_abdal above says is true. U must first try to guard and perfected your salat.
U can try the website below, under the 'Pray as the prophet prays'.
Insya'Allah u will feel nearer to God more than before once u hav guard your salat.

Go to a muslim scholar..someone you feel comfortable talking to and ask him/her whatever you want.

You can also read the Holy book, and go to the library and learn all you can
