Ugh, I have them too. You need to call Dish because some thing may have happened in their local office or to your dish that has messed up the signal... not to mention a storm going through can mess that up as well. It should only take around 2 minutes tops for it to acquire signal.

dish network has some excellent phone help to identify your problem. I use them a lot, lol. Over the course of time, I have picked up a few pointers, however.

Can you verify that your dish has not moved in position? Acquiring sattelite signal means it is not recognizing a signal. First, verify it is still pointed right.

Next, verify coax connection. Yeah, I know, but its the basics.

Next go inside your menu button, choose system setup--6.
Go to installation--1.

First, go to system information--3. As soon as you enter, it will run a check. You will see a box that says status. Mine says good, in green, after a few seconds, and has green boxes under sattelite 119 and 110. What does yours say? If it indicates a problem, back out of here and go to

Point dish--1. Try the check switch option, and run test. It will verify satellite reception, if possible. If all else fails,

push and hold down on button (power) on unit until it turns off and back on. Do this more than once if you are unsure. This is rebooting the computer. DO NOT remove your programming card. You may also unplug from wall, and leave unplugged a few minutes.

Failing this, and if you are sure there is no problem with your coax, the best thing is to call DISH. As for coax, the slightest crack or or damage to it can eventually lead to signal loss. Mine got hit by a shovel, and months later went out. Any connections need to be checked also. Good luck.
