I have dealt with the same thing in the past. My tailbone starts hurting for no aparent reason, no fall, no obvious injury. I still don't know why. each time I ended up just waiting out the pain which can take over a month.

first thing i would suggest is to bend over slowly, let your arms dangle in front you. do this very slowly as far down towards the floor with you hands as you can, just dangle there. this will stretch out your spine gently. do this a few times each morning and at night. research for a good chiropractor, i prefer Palmer institute graduates, but i know there are more good schools. you want one who does xray, electrode testing. you need some serious work. sounds like you have got your self some scoliosis..
get some help quickly..

have you been sitting in any way that could have injured? like riding a bike and the seat's too small? (that's my issue LOL) you could try putting an ice pack on it, but I'd go see the doctor. If it's a muscle, icing is bad, heat is good. If it's bone, ice is good, heat is bad. That's a general rule actually. Good luck! I know how that feels -_-

It could be dislocated from a fall from awhile ago. Or it could be from your posture when sitting. Try sitting on a pillow until it stops. I had this happen in high school, and found it helps to sit on one cheek for awhile and then the other, and to sit straighter. A pillow works wonders and so does soaking in hot water.

Can you cross your legs? If you can, you're tailbone isn't broken. If you have numbness or tingling going down your legs, I'd go to th doc. Otherwise, you've probably just pulled something. I fell on my tailbone and it hurt for months!! I couldn't lay on my back.....had to sleep on my side, if that helps.

sometimes if you have a lot of stress or "issues" in your life, instead of getting a regular cold, you can get a cold in your back. you feel very uncomfortable and your body just acts different, go to chiropractor and have them assess you, from there. you should feel better after a few good cracks...
i am experiencing same thing now, i hate that feeling. hope you feel better soon

Sounds like your coccyx. Sit on a ring and if it relieves the pain, then it's most likely to be your coccyx.

OK so you have not fallen, but...have you bumped it somehow? If it is bothering you then you NEED to go and get it checked out.
