fasting wont help you lose weight, as your body turns to starvation mode and suppresses the fat stores
if you want to lose weight - you can lose up to 3 kg's per week healthy but you need to realise that the first week or so, you are only losing water.
what you need to do is:
have a glass of water on rising
breakfast- have 1 replacement meal shake
mid morning - 1 piece of low gi fruit (apple or pear)
Lunch - 1 replacement meal shake and a salad on the side (no carrots, no corn)
mid afternoon - 1 piece of fruit (as above)
Dinner - 1 protein (meat, chicken, tuna but palm size)
3 cups of veggies
(no potato, corn, carrots)
after dinner - you're allowed a diet jelly
Drink 2 ltrs of water a day
green tea is also allowed throughout the day
exercise 30mins to 1hr a day
do this for the whole mth and you will have lost weight

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.
It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

You need Iron suplements for sure. But I would not fast during a period were I female. I was fasting on a juice diet and watching very closely. What I missed was my calcium and my Iron. Both are not that great to take a supplements. I just thought it was good I was not a woman, especialy because of the calcium.

Wow 17 lbs in a month is alot. I fasted once and got super sick so I don't recommend it myself. I would try excersing and cutting back on serving sizes and drink the 8 glasses of water a day.

As a method of weight loss fasting is never a good idea. You body will begin to feed of your muscle tissue instead of your fat reserves which will make weight loss more problematic. You goal seems unrealistic to me, particulary as you are already quite small. Check out www.ashwell.uk.com for guidance on being a healthy size. Weight is not the only indicator we should consider.

why are you trying to loose weight-you are not fat, but if you want to loose weight you should increase your water and exercise 3 times a week for 20 to 30 minutes each time. fruit and vegetables are also nessessary especially if you dont want to damage your skin.

Reduction of weight must always be gradual..If u lose weight immediately then u will gain it immediately...Fasting will not be of permanent help....Plan to loose 17lbs in three months its good for ur health..Exercise plannedly.. ...Do any sort of it like swimming,ruuning,jogging,play anything...Eat properly avoid drinks and desserts....Donot hurry to lose weight ........Later you will not have control over your metabolism rate and ur weight...Good Luck..

it depend on your trpe of fast there are a lot of ways to fast , as long as you eat some food during the fast like veggies it is ok .
