God doesn't need to rest!

How do you describe the God that you believe in, in your religion? In Islam, some of the things attributed to God (as said in the Quran) are "contradictory to anything that is new / novel", "standing on His own", "AlMighty", "Omnipotent".
But speaking logically, it is quite clear that if a god needs a break or a rest, or a nap, due to him/her feeling tired or fatigue or experiencing physical duress then that god is not worthy of worship; therefore cannot be god therefore is not God.
Why would we want to worship anything that is substandard?

To answer Michael P, perhaps you want to wake up in the wee hours alone and go out and see the sky above and the earth beneath, the air that you breathe and the blood that runs in your veins and ponder God's Magnificence and Beneficence.
(If you are still alive tomorrow, that is.)

I think He does it all. As He's eternal, all things are in Him, so unlike us, God doesn't "need" to do anything. He is always at peace, but entirely aware intimately of every situation, everybody, and sees all at the sametime. His feelings would be joy, sorrow, just anger.

How can one fathom an eternal God? He's without limit. But I know, I have wondered things like that too, finally I just found it was starting to blow my mind a little, so I had to stop ;)

When he created the world, as it says in Genesis, He rested on the Seventh Day, to set that day aside for Himself and us, but also that he had finished His works and could now break from creation, as all was finished. The day and way He chose to do this was to set us an example of us to do likewise and treat that day as holy, as well as the rest we need from our labours of the previous 6 days. And that it's been ever since, a 7 day week.

God is immortal, He cannot die or be destroyed. He created us in His own image and likness and implanted within us the breath of life and an immortal soul. Though our body's decay and die, our soul does not and goes on to eternal life. Either in Heaven or sadly....in Hell. But we are given free will to reject or accept Him. To reject Him and his gift of salvation, is to reject all that is of Him, which is love, goodness, pleasure etc. So one that rejects God, does not realise that to do this, will mean all that is of God also. Hell is the total loss of God and all that is good, so one suffers continually after the last rejection. Even God, in all his power, cannot go against a free will and force anybody to accept His offer of salvation.

An interesting question but really unanswerable.

If God exists and is truly omnipotent, then a rest or nap simply doesn't come into his itinerary.

And if he exists and is truly omnipotent, then why is he NOT looking after the world?

No!!! Because many people give GOD manlike qualities. God is nothing like us nor are we anything like Him. Because mankind (not saying any specific religions) didn't understand GOD, His Attributes or Qualities, they gave Him the attributes and qualities that their minds could simply understand. I mean, your question makes a lot of sense. Because He is not like us, He wouldn't need to rest or take a break. Or do or have the other things people claim Him to have.

God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He doesn't need rest. He is not of a bodily form like us. He is a spirit. He is the creator of all, and he was not created, but existed since infinity. Yes he is immortal. It's not easy to understand such a thing, but it's the best that can be done.

God doesn't look after the world. Time to grow up now.

God holds the sky and earth from being vanished, and if he vanished them no one else can hold them.
If the one who take care of the sky, the creature, and your self took a nap for even one second, all the universe will vanish.
If you hold a glass of water, for how much time you can hold it? 24 hours! or more. When you loss your power, it will fall down.
But God, Allah, your creator, is greater than to need rest.

Looking around at the world, I think he abandoned it shortly after manufacture. From the absence of response to most of the prayers, it looks as if Adam and Eve did not pay the extra for telephone support.

God is nothing like humans, he is a God, He doesn't rest or anything like that.
