Because of his height Valuev has a huge natural advantage. You loose so much power having to punch upwards. Valuev has good stamina and has a steady pace. He needs to be taught now to use his size to wear down opponents, lean on them alot in close quarters, push them around the ring in clinches, etc, etc.
I think he will wear Maskaev out and win by late ko.

I think this is a good match up. Valuev hasn't really been in with anyone of note though, but his massive size alone makes him tough for any fighter to deal with. Maskaev is a good puncher and he is tough. And he's fought the better comp so i give him the edge over Valuev. It may take a few rounds for him to chop Valuev down, but Maskaev would knock him out. And why is everyone dissin the russian boxers? I think they are decent fighters, especially Maskaev and Wlad Klitshcko. I know the division isn't very strong at the moment, but give these guys some credit. They are beating our heavyweights right now. Did anyone think Klitshcko would knockout Byrd and Brock the way he did? And Rahman is at least a decent fighter, and Maskaev knocked him out. I just think these guys deserve some credit for their wins, thats all.

Im sorry but your statement about these two being talented is way off, they are just two average fighters fighting in a very weak division, i mean even Shannon Briggs has found an era to get a belt in, i would say it would be an interesting match up, but would not be a very good fight to watch as are most of the fights in the Heavyweight division nowadays, Maskaev has been KO'd on quite a few occasions and Valuev hasnt really fought anyone of any note, i would probably give Maskaev the edge though as he has a small amount of boxing skill where as i dont think Valuev has any at all, as soon as Valuev gets in with anyone who can box he is gonna get is *** outpointed 12 rounds to nil.

Valuev would win hes not the fastest fighter but his skills are underrarted by many people. Alot of people think he wins his fights due to his size but i don't see being that tall as nesscesarily being much of a advantage. As an undefeated world champion he certainly deserves respect but hasent fought the best competion yet. Maskaev has fought and beaten better fighters than Valuev has fought, but i belive the best in Valuev is still to come.

This match up would definitely take boxing back into the stone age. Two unskilled and over hyped heavyweights matched up against each other does nothing to excite me or the boxing world in general. Valuev would probably win because he is the bigger punching bag and most likely could take a lot more punishment than Maskaev. These boxers exhibit no skills whatsoever. Would be one of the most boring fights of the last 20 - 30 years.

VERY VERY GOOD QUESTION. Oleg probably takes it. Oleg has stone hands and can KO any boxer (including Ali, Frazier, Louis)
