If it occured only once or twice, ignore it. If more than that, it could mean a lot of things, the most importnt of which is A SIGN THAT YOU NEED A PROFESSIONAL ADVICE; SEE A DOCTOR, where you can get a stool test!

When a health care provider tests stool, they are often looking for the presence of microscopic blood in the feces which may be a sign of a problem in your digestive system.

What Causes Blood to Appear in Stool?

Blood may appear in the stool because of one or more of the following conditions:

Benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) growths or polyps of the colon.
Hemorrhoids (swollen blood vessels near the anus and lower rectum that can rupture, causing bleeding).
Anal fissures (splits or cracks in the lining of the anal opening).
Intestinal infections that cause inflammation.
Ulcers.
Ulcerative colitis.
Crohn's disease.
Diverticular disease, caused by outpouchings of the colon wall.
Abnormalities of the blood vessels in the large intestine.

All the best!

Well... could be a couple of things.
1- could be an internal hemorrhoid that was irritated from straining while you were attempting to have a stool.
2- could be a G.I. bleed. That would not be good. And you definitely would know there was something wrong. Strong smell, blood pouring out, dark blood color.
If it gets worse go to the E.R. or call your doc and bring in a sample

If you notice the blood on the surface and it's bright red in color, it's because your anal mucosa (lining in that area) was torn. This could explain the pain, and burning. Now this could be because you have been straining too hard, or could be something else entirely. I don't believe it's because of your ulcers or gastritis since if those areas were the one's bleeding then your stool would be tarry or black to dark red in color. Claritin's (loratadine) side effects include causing gastrointestinal disturbances. So I'm not too sure on that count. As far as I know, anal fissures, are any cracks or tears in the anal mucosa. They heal up on their own, but if it's chronic (repeated tearing) the wounds might not heal up as quickly and cause a lot of discomfort and pain, as well as bleeding even though soft stool was passed. Drink lots of water as it might help soften your stools. This is in case your problem is caused by hard stool tearing your anal mucosa. Other than that please seek the advise of your general physician.

A few questions come to mind:
Are you pooping between 1 to 3 times/day or less than once a day?
Is your stool hard?
Do you have to strain when on the toilet?
Does pooping take longer than urination?
**You could be constipated, leading to straining on the toilet, which leads to hemmerhoids, which leads to bloody stools.
These are the first questions, but if you're pooping 1-3x/day, and constipation is not an issue, then go see your doctor, this could range from slight to severe.
Good luck and Peace.

The first thing is to know if it is a lot of blood or a small amount.

If it is just a small amount and red, you could have a hemorroid or a fissure that bleeds when you move your bowels. In this case adding fiber to your diet could help. Eat lots of fruit/veggies or get an over the counter fiber. Just remember to drink a lot of extra water when you add fiber or it could bind you up and make this problem worse.

If it is a large amount, or your stools are black and tary, I suggest that you go see a doctor. It could be a serious problem.

This is seriously a good question to take to a doctor. The doctor will want to know how much blood and its color, when you saw it and what conditions you have that may aggravate it (fissures, polyps, hemorrhoids etc.)
The most common problems are actually at the bottom end and they are easily treated.

if its just once, don't worry about it. However, if it's happened multiple times go see a doc. It could indicate a problem in your intestines. Colon cancer is usually first discovered by recurring blood in your stool.

blood in stool ... i think you mean REB staining of the stool... if yes this is due either to an injury in the distal end of the large intestine... or it might be due to hemorroids...
if u mean that the stool is black due to the presence of oxidised blood... this is a sing of upper GI injuries (stomach, small intestine..) this is very dangerous and is a sign of malignancy in most of the cases (tumor of the colon)...

I hate to tell you, but it means it is time to go to the doctor. It can be something as simple as a strain, but it can also be extremely serious. It is a sign of a large number of problems, some simple some serious and you must get it checked out.

It could be a hemmeriod or sometimes when people are constipated, and they are finally able to deficate, then they will bleed. If it happens often, I would see a Doctor.
