Who remembers the old remedy of putting flour on a cut or wound to aid clotting and arrest bleeding?

Just checking the real answer is direct pressure with sterile dressings if available.the old remedy was actually used in the old days,Just wondered how many folk are up to date,Anyway Happy New Year to all.

Yep I use it on my dogs if they cut a paw, also arrowroot powder works well;

Yes ..But not with the flour. You have to apply turmeric powder to clotting and arrest the bleeding.

army during the war it was pour in sulpha powder which each soldier carried in his leg pocket with his first aid dressing but the flour business must have been in Florence Nightingale's days never heard of it

You do not really want some flour running around your blood stream - possibly to then clump together and then block one - do you ?

But my father inlaw swore by pepper on a open cut or wound.

Yes!! just add some eggs and and water and when the bleeding has stopped you can have a blood tasting yorkshire pudding!!

never heard that one, but a brown paper bag or lemon juice do the trick very well

hello never heard of that but QuickCloth is new and it is used like that.
