I know this will shock you but back when they were created there was another value system and girlfriend and boyfriend didn't have sex until marriage. I know this is a hard thing to comprehend in this day and age that some men could actually keep their pants zipped and some women their legs together. Just sit the shock will go away momentarily.

More specificaly, he's gay and she's frigid. He'd much rather be playing with Action Man, and she is repressing her emotions by being obsessed with fashion issues. I feel quite sorry for them.
