Why would you pray for someone else if they are in reach. My prayers are for Father God to guide me in how the person should be assissted. If they are out of my reach the I pray for a miracle or another feloow traveler to happen by their way.

This is a good question may i point out the actually answer does not relay on us it is about following Jesus and his will. There will be times when God is trying to get peoples attention and will not want you to interfer with his work. Many people today rush in to help people but end up making a mess of God plan.
So our best for anyone is first to pray for them our best unto God is to be lead by the spirit God toward his will for them. Sometimes he will is help them or give them a car or buy them a meal, at other time he is actually wanting us to step aside so he can finish his work in them. God often humbles people in hard ways. He also resist the proud. And he with holds good from the wicked. And he prolongs the suffering of the disobident.
Jesus has restored the christians to the Father. The Father has not changed in any way, shape or from. Many are declaring that God the father has changed every since the cross of Christ. I have found that is nonesince. He is a hard God at times if it requires it to get a persons attention. But he is full of mercy and he is love, but he refuses to allow his children to live in sin. Compassion is not always compassion that is why we have to lisen to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. God directs the actions of the faithful and he also corrects people.
So indeed it was a tricky question.

The Lord has said and asked us to feed the hungry and clothe the poor. If we can do it ourselves its the best thing to happen to us. If we can't then what else can we do but to pray? Also when it comes to impossible people like big leaders we can only pray to God that may the good sense prevail upon the person who is about to set on a wrong course of action.

Sometimes praying for someone is all you can do. Prayer is a powerful thing. What if a person is hit by a car or in some type of accident and they were in hospital having surgery, what could you do? You can't perform the surgery yourself, but you can pray. Sometimes thats all you can do.

Praying for someone doesn't "excuse" you, if you are able to help them materially, or physically, but if they are unable to help, praying is the most they can do, not the least.

It doesnt, but far too often people act as though it does. And whether you are talking about Christian prayer, or new age healing, the result is often the same. People will chant a few words (admittedly with some degree of sincerity) but then take no further action and the person, more often than not, has no improvement and often things get worse.

No.
The best method is to pray for the person and also to help him in anyway we can (but the help must be lawful).
If we cannot help him, then it is alright just to pray for him. For example, a friend need to borrow $50,000-00 for the costs of his operation. If we have the money, we can lend him the money and also pray for his well-being. But if we don't have that much money, we just pray for him to get well and pray for him that he can get the money from someone else.

If you are on the side of the road with a flat tire, would you rather someone pray for you, or stop and help you fix the flat?
Thought so.
