I think you are already motovated by your forward looking and in trying to get into shape both physically and mentally. Just put all that into practice and off you go!! Whom or what else do you want to motivate you in doing what YOU want to do!?? You sound to be a strong person, healthy and forward looking! And that is all you really need.
Motivation is a driving force. In order to accomplish anything, you need a driving force, otherwise nothing will happen. A wish is not strong enough to make you take action. A wish is a weak desire. Only a strong desire can drive forward, to act and accomplish aims and goals.
In order to get motivated, you need to know exactly what it is that you want, to possess a strong desire, and to be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish your goal.
More than often there is lack of motivation or only a short-lived one. How many times have you started enthusiastically a weight loss program, began a bodybuilding or aerobics training program or started to learn a foreign language, only to stop after a short while? Few people possess enough willpower and self-discipline to go through to the end with what they begin.
It easier to show motivation in connection with a subject that is dear to you. If you desire something, but you don't feel motivated enough to act, this means that the desire is not important enough. To be motivated to take action and do something in respect to your desire, you need to possess a really strong desire.
Motivation has much to do with the emotions and the imagination, which means that if you want to increase it, you have to work on your feelings and imagination.
Here are some tips to increase your motivation:
1. Think, meditate and find out whether you really want to achieve your desire, and whether it is worth the effort and time.
2. Make your goal very clear. Writing it down will help.
3. Think often about your goal or desire.
4. Visualize your goal as already accomplished, and close your mind to contrary thoughts.
5. Read books or articles about the subject of your goal.
6. Read about people who have achieved success.
7. Think often about the benefits you will gain by achieving your goal.
8. Visualize, and think about how you would feel after achieving your goal.
9. Repeat positive affirmations such as: "I have the desire and inner strength to achieve my goal". Repeat this affirmation often, with faith and strong feelings.
10. Start with doing something small concerning your goal. Success in small matters leads to greater success.
Motivation is the powerful engine that moves you towards success and accomplishments in every area.
All the best!

My problem is that I think too far ahead. I think 'I want to finish my Open University degree' or suchlike, but I don't actually put any steps in place. So come the end of the year I haven't actually done anything towards my goal.
To be completely honest I think I avoid putting steps in place, because that way I don't have to actually try and do anything!
My plan for this year is to interact more with things I want to achieve, rather than just make it about me doing x. I want to get better at yoga, so instead of just going to my regular classes I'm booking a couple of retreats, I need to finish a non fiction book I'm writing, so I've arranged a few relevent trips to re-ignite my passion for the subject, and I need to get more up-to-date at work, so I've booked some training sessions. I'm trying to make things more about 'interacting' than just me sitting at a keyboard.
My failsafe motivator is something I once read - There are only 2 motivators in life, money and sex. Turn anything into either and you can motivate anyone to do anything. Yes it's shallow, but when all motivation is out of the window remembering I'm working because I want the cash has been very helpful.
Good luck and happy New Year x

My tip is not to try and do everything at once. If you set yourself a small goal (eg doing a bit of studying or eating an apple instead of a chocolate bar) then you'll feel good when you achieve it and it will encourage you to keep going. New year is a good time to draw a line on a bad year and look to the future. It may be that you need to ditch some friends who are bringing you down or do a bit of decorating to where you live to brighten up your environment.
Like I say start small and don't get disheartened if you don't become motivated over night - your're a human and its natural for us to have highs and lows.
Good luck and all the best for 2007

Good question, some tips. First, make sure each day that you have a brisk half hour walk because this will certainly perk you up and make you feel more alive. Therefore you have the physical stimulation necessary to get started on things.
Next, before you start new projects you must clear up old unfinished ones, where your attention is partly dispersed. Look around your environment and have a good clear-up. De-cluttering is enormously good for you and really revitalises your brain ... believe me, it really does. Throw out old stuff, clear up unfinished correspondence and business, file away or store stuff out of sight that you don't need any more.
Now your physical environment is cleaner and clearer, and your body feels more alive.
New projects and ideas just come naturally after that.
Good luck!

Diet is difficult if the people around you keep doing the same habit and don't help you to reduce the temptation. If you want to do diet, do it together with your best friend or partner so that you can keep motivating each other. Diet doesn't mean you eat less healthy, it is indeed give you more control to what you eat. Try to plan your menu at least every week, count enough calories and minerals (each day you eat enough fruit and vegetables) and make sure you eat often enough not to let yourself starve. cut sugar and try not to eat fattening food and carbs after 6pm. Oh, don't forget excersise, that's the most important thing as well! Good luck!

I started thinking about the goal I wanted to achieve and then took small steps towards it. I reward myself each time I achieve something, could be as little as listening to a piece of music I love, right through to getting a new pair of shoes, etc. Don't beat yourself up if you slip, accept it and move forward.
Find someone who will back you as well. I went to the gym and got a trainer as part of the deal. He is great for encouraging me.
That's what you really need, an encourager. Do you know someone who will tell you how proud they are of you each time you achieve?
Be encouraged - the first step to achieving is knowing what you want to do. Take a small step today and be pleased with yourself. I do hope that 2007 is a very much better year for you and you look back in 12 months, proud of your achievement.
enjoy it P

What motivates you? Do you wanna lose wieght? buy somthing you wanna fit into and hang it where you see it every day.
Wanna educate yourself more? buy books and leave them on your coffee table by the tv remote control. you'll think twice when you reach.
Find things that motivate you, put them around in your daily life, you see it. you'll be more for it.
Motivation is found only by one person, two people may have the same goal, but different things motivate them...follow your passion...Dont forget to reward yourself either when you pass a mile stone. (just make sure its not a bad habit..."horay 5 months no smoke,....hey i'll have one to celebrate" BAD)
Set goals, make them realistic. you want to eat healthier? Eat at least 3 salads a week. ..Dont think you can get yourself to do that? buy a bag of that already made salad so its there to eat.
Dont buy that other 2liter of soda, or buy a diet soda instead.
Write down your goals, or daily goal and post it up on your mirror before bed, so when you wake up you can read it. Make 3 or 4 of the post around areas your going to look most often.

Each person has different things that motivate him or her. Find what motivates you and go with it. The things that I think of with school is good marks assure that you will get a good job off the mark. After the first and second job, nobody looked at my university transcripts any more.
Exercise and getting enough good sleep at night are the first 2 things that I would suggest. Exercise may be something as simple as walking or biking at noon hour.

Mustard is a secret bulge-buster. This boosts your metabolism and increases natural ephadrine, the hormone that burns fat. According to Jeya Holly, professor of human nutrition on Oxford Brookes University, just a tablespoon within your food can reduce a flabby waist by 20 per cent!

What you need is purpose. Think of all the benefits the end product will bring and set yourself interim goals. Perhaps a little reward to yourself like a night out when you reach a particular goal. If you have a serious partner then they can play a role by encouraging you and helping you to set the goals and rewards.
hope that helps. have a great NEW year
