Do you think they do this out of hate, ignorance or is it just of case of trying to serve their own ends by trying to demonize those who don't share their beliefs ?

I have to agree with "NATE". Most atheists ask the most stupid and ignorant questions to Christians and call God our "invisible friend". Tell me, what do you think of that! Is this not an act of evil on their part?

Yes, I think it's wrong. I am a Christian and I recognize the fact that morality does not stem from the belief in a divine being but what is inside the person and how they interpret the world around them.
I have encountered many people who will lump anyone who does not believe in things exactly the way they do as evil and immoral. A lot of that is plain ignorance. When someone is comfortable with what they believe in, it's hard to see how someone could be happy or right with another point of view.
The human race is also a very hateful species. Some people just love to hate and often, they think that their religion entitles them to hate.
I suppose that the misinterpretation stems from both hate and ignorance.

I am a christian and I think it is wrong to call atheists evil. A person can be evil, their thoughts can be evil, but being an atheists is not evil. To me every person has a choice in their beliefs and I am not the one to judge that person. When I was 12 I decided to believe fully in God and Jesus. It began with, the thought that if I was wrong and there was no God fine, who cares. But if I didn't believe and there was a God then I would be in a bad situation. Now that has been 19 years ago and I can tell you my relationship with God is what keeps me sane and happy. Each person has to have a truth and look in their heart. I think and atheists is a person that is still looking for something, not evil.

Yes, it is wrong to generalize an entire group of people into a category of their choosing (with their definitions) and then misrepresent the whole group based on that. But I think people from all sides do that...... it's annoying as hell too.

I think it is wrong to misrepresent anyone. There are nuts in each field, but there are some sincere and decent people in the same profession as well (by field and profession, I mean political party, religious denomination, etc).

I think it's wrong, but it's also wrong to misrepresent Christians as ignorant and brainwashed. There is good and bad on both sides.

Atheists have always been hated by 'the establishment'. For centuries they were persecuted for no crime except free thinking. The churches and governments fear them because they have little respect for authority and are difficult to control and manipulate,.

i think people who do that feel insecure that not everyone thinks the same as them. its silly really, i have met atheists who would give away there last dollar to someone who needed it, and i have met Christan's who are paedophiles! Christan's say one minute that not all Christan's are good, and then contradict them selves by saying all atheists are evil.
