No Religion is Dangerous....but, a Fundamentalist can be.....!!

Religion can be dangerous if the leader advocates unethical or immoral acts or beliefs. Jim Jones was a very dangerous man as was David Koresh of the Branch Davidians. Both lead their congregations to their death.

However some religions promote peace and harmony with others. The Amish are very religious and don't seem to harm too many people and live good moral lives. That is why you must investigate each sect you are looking into joining. You can't just lump people into two groups-religious and nonreligious. You must look at how they act and what they believe.

Yes and no. Are cars dangerous? Are guns dangerous? Is fire dangerous?
All of those things can be used to serve good purposes, yet they can be used to harm and, if left in the wrong hands, can cause a lot of damage.
I would say the same thing for religion.

No
There are good and bad followers in every religion. The correct thing to do is to judge a religion by its documented revelation from God and the prophet who brought that revelation.

One historical example of Muslims living up to the standard of Islam can be found from the time of the Spanish Inquisition. During that disaster sprung by misguided Catholics, some Spanish Jews fled to Muslim Turkey and to this day, there is a community of Spanish-speaking Jews in Turkey. Another example may be found during one of the Crusader invasions from Western Europe. Some of the the Catholic Western European knights were so likely to rape, murder, and pillage the Jews and Orthodox Christians, that when the Muslims won, they were treated as a liberating force by those non-Muslims.

It can be.
If you let others form your thoughts and opinions for you; (as some people let there religions or religious leaders do) that is very dangerous!
if you use your religion to help guide your thoughts and opinions it wouldn't be dangerous.
there are far too many non-thinkers among the believers of far too many faiths

This is the most dangerous thin this world has ever seen, or is likely to see.
How many people have died or been killed because of the religion they follow?

Religions, all religions, pre-suppose a 'chosen people' that "God" anoints as being special.

Religions, all religions, practice elitism.

Elitism fosters narcissism.

Narcissism is a drug that, when ingested, absolves one of any responsibility for pain inflicted.
