You know, i was actually wondering the inverse today... I was seriously about to post a question about the opposite.. .What you the british think of American English?
I honestly think the British accent is more sophisticated and posh. I'm not talking about the cockney accent, but rather the cleaner Queen's English. Honestly, when a women speaks with a british accent, i find it extremely attractive. You could say it's a fantasy of mine to get with a briton.
How does American English sound to you?

Yes, I enjoy hearing a British accent compared to a ( Tennessee hillbilly accent) Which I have. On the other hand some people like to hear me talk with my accent. I believe it is just different and sounds cool to others. I hear some say bloody hell a lot. I say **** fire which comes out **** far. LOL So it is just a difference but nothing bad. Where i live most of the talk is the results of English ( European, Irish, German, ) mixed together. Throughout the Appalachian mountains there is still a lot of the old world speech.

I myself grew up learning American English and Korean. I often wonder the same thing, but the truth is that one will never know what their accent sounds like. Personally, I find the Queen's English to be more elegant. The choice of words seem to make the speech more sophisticated as well. Actually, when I watch movies like Harry Potter, if I don't focus on the speech, I might no understand what they're saying!

I find The Queen's English refreshingly proper and easy to understand. I've worked with an Australian and a New Zealander and find myself using more correct grammar as a result of speaking with others with correct grammar. Love all the bonnets, trams, boots, rubbers, anon. Also, British comedy is just so much funnier than American comedy.

Actually, I am very impressed with the way the average English resident uses their vocabulary. Compared to the average American, the ability to speak well with proper grammar and a greater command of the language is very noticeable.

I don't myself. I've always been crazy about the UK and the words, spoken and written, have always made sense to me. "Brolly" took a bit to understand though :)
It's funny how so many Americans forget that a good deal of the non-native population came from the UK and started the colonies. That kinda means you guys started us :) Ok, Ok, there are the indigeneous peoples of North America too, but you know what I mean :)

An Yank and a Brit were having a discussion when the Yank mentioned an "elevator".
The Brit said, "You mean a lift".
The American replied, "No I mean an elevator. I know what the thing should be called. It was invented in the United States!"
The Brit replied, "Yes, but the language was invented in England".
ahaa!

English is what the people of England speak.... Americans are a much more diverse people we are not limited by where our parents were born so we speak a language that reflects that.

yes, it is much different... even a lot of the words we share are pronounced differently, like mobile (mobull in American, mobile in English). And the English have much better swear words that aren't really swear words, like b*llocks, w*nker, s*d off, etc. All we have are stupid words like "fudge", "darn", and "dang it"

Let's not forget that there are many varieties of Brit Eng - as many as there are in the USA - so it's difficult to generalise/generalize :-)
