Using soap operas and actors as an example: I hate the EastEnders cockney accents, also I don't like the overly posh keira knightly/joanna lumley accents. Most of the characters in Hollyoaks have nice accents (but I'm not sure they correspond to the region it's set in). Davina MacCall has a nice accent (where's she from, what's her background?).
Some of the Brookside women had nice accents (when they weren't too hysterical).
Do people agree/disagree with me? Is preference for accent based on the people we've seen who have those accents (hence I don't like the Glaswegian accent because of Lorraine Kelly and Rab C Nesbitt?)

i cant stand the sound of that awful woman, Kerry Katona! Her voice is so grating. It annoys me so much that i have to mute the telly or radio when ever she comes on. I'm sure not all scousers are that bad! I do like the southern Irish accent.

I like most regional accents on men (apart from Brummie, Bristol) but I don't really like regional accents on women for some reason. Oh, just remembered, I HATE most students accents - they all have the same bloody one! How is this so? 'Ohmigod, ya, ya, Crispins party, was , like , so random'. These people are doing degrees for christsakes, but can barely string a sentence together. Anyway, must stop typing before I have a heart attack caused by annoying behaviour from the damned things.

i believe it very much relies upon on the different sides of the guy who might want to be judged for sophistication. Accents are a lot less of a ingredient (except higher/decrease classification) when you consider that different uk accents at the instantaneous are more desirable prevalent. This frequently has not something to do with preparation because you may have an higher-classification man or woman who's poorly knowledgeable as well as having a decrease-classification man or woman who takes position to be brilliant.

Some accents I just like.
I think its more to do with the person than the accent though.

Errrrrrrrrr instead of using soap actors etc to make comparison's with why not "geton your bike" travel around and listen -- but more importantly ------- "feel" the accent ----- but I suppose with you being a couch potato listening to all these soap accents you won't really want to know what a genuine accent is

You can't beat a nice soft Irish accent. I can't think of any soap stars that have one, but that's definitely the most attractive.
Liam Neeson has the best voice I have ever heard. Yummy!

Must say i like the Australian accent, they always sound so precise. I also like the way the Irish speak, very intriguing indeed, but i think the Liverpool accent gets me every time.
