You see christians of all kinds bashing Satanism in a violent offensive way but if the would do that to any other religion it would be considered wrong. Why not the same with Satanism? Some of you may say that Satanist go around killing people but that's not what the organized Satanic church does or teaches. In fact, more, way more, people have been killed in the name of christianity. So why, a religion that is recognized by the US goverment and the only church that doesn't want a tax break that they could claim at any time, that preaches don't involve those who don't want to be involved and respect them, doesn't get to be respected? BTW, I'm not a Satanist, I'm an Atheist which allows me to see thinks with more imparciality.

BTW, to all my fellow christian fundamentalists, organized Satanism, doesn't really worships a Satan as a real god but rather a symbol, is an individualistic religion. I mean if you would only do a little reasearch, but again, you are christians and I guess you don't care to know about the real world but rather what mammy and daddy put in your head when you were to small to think for your selfs. And, I know it seems like being christians makes you a good perosn to the eyes of other because christianity connotates "goodness", well that probably why a devoted christian by the name of adolf hitler is a good fellow.

Happy Traveler: I know a lot of horrible things have been done in the name of Satan, but in the bodycount I think christianity wins... easily. And as an Atheist I'm not against god, I just don't believe in it because there is not good enough evidence. If one day, such evidence appears, I will bend in my knees and pray like southern baptist boy. And please don't quote the bible as evidence, is that's valid evidence then "The Oddisey" by Homer is evidence that Zeus once ruled the earth and believe me, that book has so much less contratictions.

Hey, bud,

Good looking out. Most Satanists that I know (myself included) don't really expect Christians, Muslims, and so forth, to treat us with any sort of respect. It would be nice, but for the most part, I don't really care what anyone else thinks about my beliefs. Our beliefs (whether we believe in an actual Satanic being or not) are largely antithetical to those of the Abrahamic faiths. This is because we hold our humanity dear, while Jehovah's slaves grovel and whine about how imperfect they are. Why would we want their approval?

Again, I know you were trying to be rational - but we don't expect that from Christians or Muslims, either.

All the best,

Laz

Maybe because the name itself makes it more obviously recognizable as exhalting self against Christ. Satanist are connected with many hideous crimes throughout all of history. Bizarre rituals of animal sacrifices and other horrid things. Drugs are often involved as well. Other similar religions wear a more "innocent" looking cloak in the name if you will. That doesn't mean I give them more respect for going against Jesus Christ. Atheists are against God, therefore cannot be impartial. One must earn respect. If you bid god-speed to such a wicked one, you are partaker of their evil deeds. I give them the same message of truth I do all sinners and it's this: repent of your rebellion, pride, and other sins and be covered by the blood of Jesus before it's too late. That is NOT bashing them. I cannot be silent while the devil is busy decieving but I fight it with TRUTH! The truth of the gospel is liberating and the lies of satan are to enslave and to snare their souls. If you know that at the end of a dead end road is a 10,000 ft. immediate drop off, you will definitely put up warning signs way ahead of time to let folks know what's ahead if they don't put the breaks on and turn around from the wrong road.

Satanism worships the concept of Satan in the form of self, not Satan itself. It was started as a response to the hypocrisy and dishonest and judgmental nature of many Christians.
Since it was created to antagonize another religion it doesn't get much respect.

It's more of a belief system than religion anyway.

Because not everyone has the ability to dissociate faith from logic. The legal system tries to work on logic, consistency, precedence, etc. (Maybe it doesn't succeed, but give it points for effort). Thus if one religion gets tax-free status, then all religions get tax-free status (assuming they can meet the same, consistent criteria as a "religion"). Individuals, however, are more likely to default to subjective value arguments--"this is good for me, therefore it's absolute good; that's bad for me, therefore it's absolute bad." "My religion is a religion; other peoples' is a myth or a cult--even if it meets the legal criteria of a religion." It may not be attractive, but it's human.

Because it is misunderstood, Christians more so than any other religion, have no interest in learning about any other religion. (Fundies anyway) They say they are worried for their souls, they say they will pray for them, but they will show no respect. Strange isn't it? By the way Satanists do not worship Satan, Satan is a mere symbol, they don't even believe he exists. I am not a Satanist, but I will respect your beliefs, please respect mine.

Just point out the schools and hospitals satanism has built. Show us the World Vision type organizations that are founded by satanists. Where are the satanist doctors donating years in third world countries? oh...maybe that's why they are not respected like other religions...they haven't earned it by doing good in society at large.

I honestly don't know why...

People blame "Satan" and "God" for things because they wish to be blameless themselves.

I honestly think that all religions deserve respect. Christians, I've noticed, demand respect at every turn, but they do not give it equally...or so it seems by what I have witnessed in my life.

Probably because it is a cult, and lots of people do not like cults.

It's sad, but I still have respect for those who choose satanism as their path.
