I guarantee you she is sleeping 99% of the time you are gone. Leave a curtain open so she can see outside and leave a radio on so there is background noise, and she will be super happy.
Cats can go days without attention.

I think they need stimulation some cats can be content with toys & a scratch tree, but from the cats i've had most of them have preferd some sort of company. It is true that cats sleep most of the day when your away, but if you have a kitten who constantly wants to play or is chasing thin air with that mad look only kittens get when you get home then I think a playmate might be in order. Try to get a cat that is evenly matched to yours & is roughly the same age, keep them seperated till the play between them seems to reverse so that each cat has a turn on chasing the other. Try doing some searches on introducing cats and if you have a particular breed search personality traits. Hope this helps.

I've always had 3 or 4 cats at a time. Four gets tough when money is tight and vet bills kick in. But even two cats allows for some companionship and play time. Before your cat fully matures I recommend a 2nd cat as a companion and play mate. Cats are less prone to destructive behavior (scratching the furniture) when they have a buddy. Mine have always learned to play together. The older cat always teaches the younger the ropes.

Cats can go through seperation anxiety and do get lonely. That is why I think 2 cats are better than one for you cannot be there all the time. And if you find a cat that gets along with the other cat then the cats will be fine left alone even for a couple of days.
If you cannot get your cat a friend then leave the TV on for the cat or get a video for cats. And hide treats around the house for her to find while you are gone. Make sure she has a window to look out and leave plenty of toys for her to play with.
Stress from being left alone can cause your cat to get sick and it sometimes can be fatal.

Cats are social animals they shouldn’t be left alone longer than 8 hours if u have to work have someone checking on it a neighbor or a friend
U could always leave the curtains open have a bird house out side your window or just some bird seeds, some times I leave paper balls hidden around the house when I leavemine have a favorite toy which i hide and she always find it
or just call and let it hear your voice on the answer machine
good luck

Cats can be solitary but not lonely or bored as long as there are some interesting things to watch and to do in their environment. When I leave my kitty at home alone, he usually sleeps but gets up from time to time to watch by the window, take a drink, or bat at a toy and then... go back to sleep.

I worry about that too, but have come to the conclusion that they are creatures of routine, so if she's used to you going to work then she won't mind. My cat doesn't mind being alone all day but gets antsy if I've been home alot for a couple of weeks and then start working 9-5 again.
He lets his frustration known though (destruction generally...but he's 1yr old so this is par for the course)

Yes they do, but in a different way to us.
They like attention and being stroked, so they miss that when you are gone.
At one time I thought it was only kittens that got lonely, but I've had one of my cats indoors for a while and she has totally changed from being not bothered if you touched her or not, to being meowed at if I get off the settee and leave the room, and chases me around the house, until I sit back down and she jumps onto my chest again, turns on her back to have her belly rubbed. Totally changed cat in 4 days.

My cat was not a very nice cat--she would bite when I pet her, and didn't like to be picked up. I got a 2nd kitten while the first one was young, and introduced them carefully (keep them separated the first day or so), and now they're best friends. They play together, and lick each other on the head, *and* the first cat doesn't bite or complain when I pet her anymore! I think this proves that she's happier with a friend. Luckily, two cats aren't much more difficult to care for than one, as long as you can afford double the annual vet visits for shots.

Most cats are loners and like the quiet and solitude of an empty house. Remember they sleep most of the time (16 hrs a day), so don't need company. Leave her a play post incase she wants some stimulation. You will know instinctively if she is unhappy over the coming weeks, months if she is off her food or ignores you etc. Chances are, she will be fine, but some cats do need company - it depends on the breed and their mentality.

Kittens tend to since they are always looking for entertainment and you are an obvious source of that entertainment, but don't feel too bad as that feeling of you leaving is out of their minds before you get to the car as they have found something else to do.
My kitten loves to sprawl in front of the door when she knows I am leaving to try to block me.It always pulls at the heart strings while making me laugh. I snuck back in on her the other day and found her on the counter trying to unwrap a plate of cookies...now I am convinced she just wants to make sure I am gone before she starts looking for something to get into.
