The thing about political correctness is that pretty much everyone is overly sensitive about some issue, but they only consider other people's oversensitivities politically correct. For example, Mexicans and blacks are oversensitive about racial slurs, while right wing Christians are oversensitive about perceived attacks on Christianity. For example, when Michael Richards exploded on stage in a fit of anger and started screaming racial insults, some blacks decided to boycott him and everything associated with him. Likewise, when certain retail stores told their employees to say "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas," some Christians decided to boycott those stores until they changed their policies. Either way, it's about trying to control speech and power, and both sides of the political spectrum are guilty of it (both liberals and conservatives).
After all, whenever you feel like someone else is trying to take away your "rights," chances are you're going to be a little oversensitive about it, and you're going to respond in a way that looks like politically correct nonsense to the people who don't share your concerns.
So although political correctness is annoying, it's just one of those things that's bound to happen to some extent in a diverse society where free speech is allowed. If you can't force others to shut up, you try to intimidate or embarrass them into shutting up. In the end, it's basically about power, and like it or not, it's here to stay.

from my understanding if something was described as being "politically correct" it was in essence an insult i.e. you're sticking too hard to the party line/rhetoric.
It's gone too far because honest to god insults (e.g. racist remarks) are not pulled up the way they should be because all the racist/sexist/etc has to say is "oh you're from the PC brigade" and like magic they're excused from their crappy remark. This works because the nuisance claims of racism/sexism, etc fill our minds that we feel like we can't offer any opinion for fear of insult. There is too much sensitivity and case in point is rosie odonnell saying kelly ripa was being homophobic. A totally inoccuous comment and pretty standard comeback for having a hand placed on your mouth i'd have thought but now it's homophobic.

It started in the 60s when high-profile Jews pimped their daughters off to the Black Panters and other criminal and anti-American groups. They wanted to give them a patina of respectability.
Oprah and Geraldo Rivera can claim much of the blame, as can the NAACP and LULAC. Buncha crybabies.
Political correct speech is nothing more than the Left's attempt at mind control. It seems to be working with some of these trend-humping 'tards. Read. "1984".

It is not niice to be senstive. However, in the present world and present social structure, there are some problems which one face in the world due to which one is bound to become senstive. If you arebefore your boss , you are bound to become sensitive. There is no harm as there are such barrier of office discipline. due to which one aught to become sensitive..

It will end when everyone realizes that they are just fooling themselves and everyone has hatred in their hearts. We need to just get on with it and if someone has something to say they should be able to just say it and let natural consequences take place instead of this fake "political correct" ****.

Because people take things way too seriously. We need to lighten up and not look for reasons to get our undies in a knot and be all "offended". I think you should be able to speak whats on your mind without having to explain yourself and apologize every time we open our mouths.
