You know, I actually try to keep myself abreast of most things, but I know virtually nothing about Bolivia other than its language and geographical position. Do you know anything about Canada? (If you say 'no' I'll feel less guilty.)

Bolivia has never had very successful governments. The country is the poorest in South America, and it has suffered from instability over the years.

Considering Bolivia's population, it is time an indigenous leader like Evo Morales was elected. He is facing an uphill struggle, trying to bring economic justice to his people. Even so-called socialists in Spain and Brazil have opposed his efforts to get fair prices for the Bolivian people, because this is against their national interest.

Coca farming is a tradition that goes back hundreds or even thousands of years in Bolivia. Suggesting that it should be legal, which puts Morales in direct confrontation with the United States, was a bold and courageous move.

Good luck to Evo Morales and the people of Bolvia.

I don't know much about what's going on with the Bolivian
government lately, but its sort of sad that like most of
South America, the poor natives get the short end of it.
LIke less than 5% of the nation control 98% of the business.
Politicians keep promising that their ideology will change
this, but it never does. I really like Bolivia when I went there
a few years ago, I loved the justaposition of the fashioista
business lady with her cell and laptop next to the chola in her
skirts and shawls. We got to experience a typical riot, unfortunately your country is sort of known for its instability and
the rioting students, teargas and police in riot gear just fed into
that. We stayed in La Paz for a couple of days then traveled
in the local buses back to the border with Peru, sent to see
Tijuanaco, I wish we had had more time to see more of Bolivia,
friends who have been in the eastern part of the country just
loved it. Maybe another trip....

well my university teacher is from bolivia, she talks a lot of Bolivia. She is a socialist so she likes Evo. In my opinion I think he is going to do well, not all governments work like ours so its good Bolivia tried it with the left wing. About bolivia i'm sure theres whites, mestizos, mulattos, indigineous. The last one is the majority. My overall impression of Bolivia is excellent since my teacher is the best teacher i've ever had, she is so nice, compassionate, shes like a mother!

My friend I'm South American and I can tell you that the only think they (Anglos) know about Bolivia is that it must be like Mexico and that 99,9% of the population belongs to the so called "hispanic race".
So if you think they think you're indigenous, relax, they only think you're a brown spanish-indian mestizo.

Dear, this is not the best place to expect well informed answers. You might have noticed that from the spelling of "Columbia" instead of "Colombia" and someone expecting to find a "taco" in Bolivia as if it was Mexico.

I never heard of Cabildos. Please explain what that is?

Morales seems well intentioned but he might be too close to Chavez which my country (USA) might dislike. I never been to South America but would like to visit one day there.

Sounds like a great place to get a taco and sit at the beach.
Other than that, if it's not the USA it doesn't matter.
Sorry.
