Go to China Town for shopping and Little Italy for great food. Greenich Village is also very nice. I also like to shop along West 34th St by Macy's. They have all kinds of cool clothing stores. The Statue of Liberty is nice (if it's not too cold) and the Empire State Building is also a great spot ( just expect to wait in a long line though). You may want to catch a play or visit a museum, and don't forget all the marvelous dining that NYC has to offer. Rockefeller center or Central Park for skating. Nice scenery too.

Go to the top of the Empire State Building. Also, rent the voice recording to give you all the highlights. We were able to see so much and we learned a ton. For instance, they point out where the Titanic docked before it's doomed voyage. They also explain why the very top of the building is shaped the way it is...it was supposed to be a docking station for blimps!!! If you can only do one thing, do this. Also, get there as soon as they open because the lines get terrible.

Time Square, the famous toy store (although the toys more resemble the old-fashioned wooden toys of the '50s), the Fox News Studio, Good Morning America, TRL, ground zero of the WTC, the Empire State Building, Wall Street, etc.
