Music to me is the closest thing i can think of, when it comes to transcendence and being closer to something spiritual. I can experience the gambit of emotions through music, love, hate, sadness and others. There is something so powerful about music. Sometimes i find a song, i just love, and wish my essence could dissolve and become part of the song. Does anyone feel the same way ?

Actually yes, I know how you feel. I'm not sure I'd necessarily describe it as spiritual... but everything else you said sounds like how I've felt about music.

I don't care what people say about how lame it is, but I feel like that when I listen to John Mayer. There's something about his voice... and the flow of his sound... makes me tingly!

I don't think it brings me closer to God, but sometimes I find myself very content, with renewed hope for this corrupt world. I feel like I can go out and make a difference; I feel serene, I see truths come together, I see beauty...but that is only with some music, not the shallow sh*t u hear on the radio now a days. Peace.

Music brings me the closest to God that I am able to get. It is amazing the emotions that music evokes.

Perhaps that because music does something to the brain. It is proven that is why some music is so bad for people because it also has a black dark side.

You are not alone. When I am listening to my electric guitar through an overdriven tube amp and earth-shaking volume it is like "riding the lightning". Even if you don't play anything, you have the soul of a musician.

Hmm...

It's said that humans aren't perfect and that God is. Humans have emotions so God shouldn't be attributed with those (human) emotions. If music makes you feel those emotions how could you feel closer to a "perfect" being who doesn't have those emotions (supposedly)?

Like, people say "God is supreme. He is higher than us." yet He (in the Christian bible) experiences anger, selfishness... a whole range of emotions. So, obviously with people dismissing that, refer back to my question. How could you feel closer?

That's how I feel about music to a tee. There's nothing more powerful and meaningful to me. I don't know if I want to sully it by comparing it with anything to do with religion. I suppose it depends how you want to define spirituality.

Music is not a good thing, you need to pray more

017:062] [Iblîs (Satan)] said: "See this one whom You have honoured above me, if You give me respite (keep me alive) to the Day of Resurrection, I will surely seize and mislead his offspring (by sending them astray) all but a few!"

[017:063] (Allâh) said: "Go, and whosoever of them follows you, surely, Hell will be the recompense of you (all) an ample recompense.

[017:064] "And befool them gradually those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allâh's disobedience), make assaults on them with your cavalry and your infantry, share with them wealth and children (by tempting them to earn money by illegal ways usury, or by committing illegal sexual intercourse), and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit.

[017:065] "Verily, My slaves (i.e. the true believers of Islâmic Monotheism) – you have no authority over them. And All-Sufficient is your Lord as a Guardian."

[017:066] Your Lord is He Who drives the ship for you through the sea, in order that you may seek of His bounty. Truly, He is Ever Most Merciful towards you.
