Flirting is a form of human interaction, usually expressing a sexual or romantic interest in the other person.....conversation, body language,physical contact.
May be one-sided (as in ur case)or reciprocated.
In other situations, it may be done simply for immediate entertainment, with no intention of developing any further relationship. This type of flirting sometimes faces disapproval from others, either because it can be misinterpreted as more serious, or it may be viewed as "cheating" if the person is already in a romantic relationship with someone else.
One way they accomplish this is to communicate a sense of playfulness or irony.

There are 2 different kinds of flirting.
There's 'I want to have sex with you' flirting, and then there is 'I like you and want to get to know you' flirting.
I will tell you about the 'I like you' one.
He will look for reasons to be close to you, and talk to you; he may not talk much if you make him nervous, but he'll try.
He'll keep looking at you and smiling.
He'll lean in when you two are talking.
He will touch you in non-threatening way, like on the shoulders, the arms, and your hands.
He will do things that he thinks will impress you.
These are rather subtle signs from a more subtle guy. The 'I want sex' is more obvious.
He'll touch you on your lower back, hips, and legs.
He'll whistle, call you 'sexy' and make teasing comments about touching you or something sexual.
He grins at you (don't mistake this for a smile).
In general, if a guy singles you out, and showers with you with attention verbally or physically, and he makes you feel special or flattered- it's flirting.

This is something that I think comes with age. Once you get into middle school and/or high school most people have already picked up all kinds of different strategies on how to flirt with a girl that they like.
