Atheist means someone who believes in nothing........irrational means to believe in something ,or behave in a certain way,for no reason.Religious people believe because of many reasons. They were raised that way, they have seen the effect of a higher power in their own life, they have read and studied and come to believe,or maybe MUST believe in a Power in their life to add some structure and hope to their very existence. Even wiccans and "pagans" believe in a "power",as do "cultists" and satanists. At least they believe in SOMETHING. Atheists and agnostics seem to have no faith or belief in anything. How sad that is,to have no one and nothing to turn to in times of trouble or need. I'm not a truly "good" christian, but I believe in God ,Jesus, and have hope for a better world, even if I can't do much about it myself.

Atheism - a place on concept - and agnosticism - a place on wisdom - are extremely some issues. i in my opinion do no longer care that plenty. I call myself an atheist considering the fact it is the main precise. What does hack me off is that 'atheist' has been branded a foul be conscious and that all and sundry is frightened of calling themselves atheists, such that they might desire to pussyfoot around it with the aid of calling themselves pantheists or naturists, or non-non secular. Do you have self assurance in a deity? If no longer then you definately are an atheist. Edit: Pussy is a foul be conscious in Yahoo-talk? What a shame for all the cat fans here.

No, we atheists are not called RATIONALS. That would be mean. Also, we scoff at religious people pointing to the book and saying its the "word of god" because we're sure they're wrong, but what makes us so sure WE are right? Atheism is just another belief among the many.

Why can't we all just call them brothers and sisters??? Why do we have to put a label on everyone and everthing?? Can't we just accept people for who they are and for their opinions?? This would be a rather dull world, if everone believed or thought the same way. Now wouldn't it??? I don't care what color or religion or nationality they are, I love most people. Unless someone hurts my family, friends or myself, or a child.

You can call us anything you want but all it is is name calling. As an atheist you believe you can trace your ancestors back to the original 2 ancestors----hydrogen and helium. You start with your parents, then you go to your grandparents, then your great grandparents, then your great great grandparents, all the way back to the original two----hydrogen and helium. You call that rational. There's an old saying.....if you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.

To call all non-religious people atheists is incorrect. There are agnostics, skeptics, humanists, all kinds of non-religious people out there.

why not? !!!
jesus called his religious leaders, murderers, children of the devil, hypocrites and a few other slanderous words.
i would call many bible thumpers IGNORANT.
while i know many details in the scriptures I dont know everything and i dont reject something because someone tells me its not true.

Just because they see fit to call us names doesn't mean we have to lower ourselves to their level to retaliate.
