I have had sharp pain off and on in my upper right side, right beneath my ribcage. Tonight I had to leave work early because I was feeling extremely nauseated. I vomited up a large amount of a lime green looking substance that tasted very bitter which I thought might be bile. I've never had that happen before. Could this be a sign of something serious?

In the time it took you to ask this question, you should have been making an app't with your doctor if not already en route to his/her office.

You body is telling you something, something serious since it's persisting--and you're not listening!

If you're apprehensive or afraid of what the problem "might" be, you will feel that much worse when you get dragged into the ER bc you can't keep food down, can't work or sleep for the pain, can't walk....and the doctor says that: By waiting so long you've done great harm and damage to yourself, don't know if we can fix this at this point, ....jThen how much are you going to regret not getting help sooner.

Get the picture? Get going!!!!

Yes it is serious. If the sharp pain is most intense during or after a fatty meal you might have gallstones (stones in the gall bladder where your bile is stored). Is your bowel movement irregular or no bowel movement at all? can you feel a mass where the pain is located, a sausage shape perhaps? is your abdomen tender? do you have stools that appear red or jelly like? If you answer yes, it might be intussusception (telescoping of the intestine)

this could be several things-but regardless you need to go the doctor. honestly you could just have a very bad virus and stomach cramping could be the pain but it could be something more serios like your gallbladder. either way you need to see a doctor-you need to stay hydrated and determine what is causing the pain and vomitting. if its a virus they can give you something to help ease the symptoms and if it is something more serious they can tell you and decide from there what the best treatment is.

Hello =)

Could be the sign of several things..

Go to the ER, and make sure it's nothing life or health threatening...

I'm thinking gall-bladder disease, or gallstones, but it could be much more serious than that.

Namaste, and Happy New Year,

Sounds like a gallbladder attack. See your doctor asap or go to ER.
