antenna so I can at least get the major networks? The only hook up on the back of my set is one that would be for standard cable. I don't know how to do that one with a cloths hanger. Please advise.

get some thin wire that's laying around, about 5 ft is good, and strip it back about 1/2 in. Twist it well and insert it into the hole in the cable connector on the TV. tack it up with tacks in the wall like an inverse L . for even better reception, do the same thing but strip about 1.5 in and wrap this wire around the outside metal part, put it up as an inverse L in the other direction. Don't let the wires metal part contact each other and you will have good reception.

Even though I hate 99% of what is on TV, I can understand where you are coming from. You can buy an antenna at a K-mart, Walmart, Amazon.com, or newegg.com. Most of them do not cost more than $15, which should include shipping. Unless you are willing to spend $100 or more on a piece of antenna, you should stick with the cheapest. Also, if you are living in a crowded apartment you may not get the desired results. But if you are up for a gamble, buying an antenna would be your best option.

well if you had cable and don't anymore just don't watch TV.
I suggest you watch movies the picture quality of an antenna is so low its not worth it. Otherwise plug the Antenna in the back of your TV just like a cable.
