yes it does because the curl makes the hair spring up so appearing shorter, how much shorter depends on the strength of the curl.
The same philosophy as a spring, if you stretch it out it will be longer.

You are kidding right?
A curly hair is longer when it is straightened, sort of like stretching out a spring. A straight hair is shorter when curled.

Sure it does. If you do it. Have them trim it after you get the perm. Softens the curl and gives you nicer ends.
