I am going to live in montreal and have been told to bring light gloves with me. The rest of my gear will be provided for me.
What does that mean? What do you waer? any interent sites/shops that have pictures?

They are refering to any type of glove that wasn't designed for heavy-duty outdoor winter adventures. These can be picked up for less than $20 at most clothing stores.

Personally, for day-to-day wear I prefer gloves over mitts. (Gloves are where the fingers are seperated, and mitts have all of your fingers together.) Gloves are easier to tie shoes and stuff with, but mitts will be warmer.

Go to www.mec.ca to look at examples of gloves & mitts. Most of these would not fall under the category of "light gloves", but it will give you an idea of what to look for.
