I've tried various hair removing techniques (shaving, waxing, creams and now epilating). As a result, the skin on my arms and legs is kinda bad. The skin on the bottom part of my legs, near the ankles, is on the verge of flaking. And the rest of my skin looks really dull and is obviously dry.

I don't know why the condition of my skin is so bad considering i apply lotion almost every day.

Great question! Just got this advice from my dermatologist. I LOVE IT! WORKS GREAT!

Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline). Get a jar of Vaseline, after shower while still dripping, scoop small amount out and rub together briskly in hands ( you can add a touch more water if your hands are too dry, helps to spread) spread Vaseline all over WET body. Pat skin dry. wait few minutes before dressing to allow water to seep into skin, then lightly pat skin again to get excess Vaseline off before dressing.

I was skeptical at first, but INSTANTLY, my skin was BABY smooth and I haven't had a BIT of dryness, even from shaving! And my husband loves it too.....on ME and HIM.....He uses it everyday now on his face after shaving!
Remember: While applying, you can add a bit of water to skin or hands if needed to apply smoothly

Sometimes its the type of lotion you put onto your skin that can hurt you more than help. You may even have a skin condition. You should try taking cooler showers, and then right after you get out without drying off put on some baby oil to trap in the moister. I used to do it all the time, and it worked well for me. If you find that nothing works from either other ideas or what not you should probably see a dermatologist. They may be able to give you something to sooth your skin. My daughter has trouble, and we only give her a bath every other day to help prevent drying her skin out. We also use Absorbase a very thick lotion our family doc gave us for her works wonders. I know it can be a painful and embarrassing thing, but good luck!

Hmm, well all my life my skin has been always smooth and soft, my secret first of all I take baths with baby oil, it works wonders, there is nothing more relaxing than a baby oil bubble bath with some music... it takes me about a year or longer to use a bottle of lotion... if you dont bathe daily you can also after washing your body in the shower just squirt baby oil over your body and rub it in.. now as far as your ankles/bottom of feet/that area of your body... just after bathing get some vasoline and rub it into those dry areas real good and put some socks on so it can stay and work that area of feet/ankles and just do this every night for about a week and you should notice a difference... Good Luck...

Here are some more tips to achieve a Clear Smooth Skin

Use of Honey makes the skin soft and smooth, reduces wrinkles and brings a glow.

Blend the egg white and honey well and then apply on the face. This makes your skin smooth and helps to reduce wrinkles.

Mash the bananas along with milk and then apply on your face. Wash it off after 20 minutes. This makes the skin smooth and supple.

Blend turmeric powder with milk and apply on the face. It removes the tan and helps to reduce the facial hair. Scrub it off with a good face scrub and then wash with cold water. You can also keep it overnight.

Apply raw sliced potato on the face. Reduces blemishes and other scars.

Citrus face packs and sandalwood face packs are excellent for oily skin.

Applying turmeric powder along with limejuice removes the tan. Limejuice is a natural bleach.

Cucumber juice is an excellent astringent. Applying cucumber juice on the face tightens the pores. Wash it off after 15 minutes.

Dried orange peels mixed with curds help reduce blemishes and scars. Wash it off after 15 minutes with cold water.

Rubbing ice cubes on the face tightens the pores and increases blood circulation.

Pimples can also be cured with a light massage of rose and sevti flowers extract. The extract is easily prepared by distilling a number of flowers in a distilling apparatus. The extract should be applied on the pimples three times a day.

These were some of the clear smooth skin tips, which are made up of ingredients, which are easily available. Most of these are very effective and without any side effects. Though they are without any side effects it is always advisable to take expert opinion for your long dreamt clear smooth skin.

I'm not a lady but erm... here is something that really works.

Try Johnson's Baby Milk Lotion. It may not have an immediate effect but apply it onto your skin every night before sleep. My mom has been using Johnson's Baby lotions for years, and believe me, her skin is now like a wax figure. (By the way, she did not use other products.)

you can go the Cleopatra way and bath with milk and honey, or you can see a dermatologist to find out if you are allergic to the lotion you're putting on, when you shave try hair conditioner to lather the area instead of soap, oatmeal baths are good too, don't apply just any lotion check the bottles and make sure it is a moisturizing lotion and will be good for your skin, baby lotion, theres lots of things you can do. experiment to find whatever makes your skin happy.

good luck!! ;)

Jergens Shimmer lotion is absolutely amazing. Its made with a touch of cocoa butter and has a slight shimmer that makes your skin just glow radiantly and feel as silky as a rose. Its great after a steamy shower.

I would say exfoliate and good moisturising lotion should help.
Drink more water and have enough sleep...This will help in brightening your skin....Oh ya, body detox also helps.....
