Stop panicking and leave the poor pooch alone. J/K
It is perfectly normal for a dog not to deficate every day, just like it is for a person.
Kudos on spotting this so early, but don't worry unless it goes on for 3 days, or his appetite or behavior changes. Odds are he either doesn't have to, or doesn't want to (very rare!) go.
As long as Fido is eating and drinking and behaving normally and not 'assuming the position' with no results, no need to stress from just one day.

Buy a can of pumpkin pie filling -- be sure it's completely unspiced, nothing but pumpkin. Your dog will probably see it as a great treat, and it acts as a great natural laxative. Don't give your dog the whole can unless he's really big... I've always used this remedy on large dogs, so I'm not sure how much I'd give a little dog. Probably enough to look reasonable when spooned over and mixed into a bowl of kibble, your dog's usual ration?
Good luck, and be sure to give your dog total access to the backyard for a while afterward. ;)

Never use over the counter products especially for this problem. You can rupture their colon or hurt him really badly. He may be constipated, he could have a mass in his colon or intestines, or he could be dehydrated. The list goes on and on as to possible causes for this, but that is why there is always a loving and helpful veterinarian at your disposal...ge thim there soon and good luck!!

well many different things u could give ur dog diff. food from what hes eating change his diet that normally makes them crap a little too much, but also u could go to the vet and they will inject something in him for like $20 to make him crap surely as well as pushing on his stomach, nah im just jking but u could maybe play with it more because it gets faster inside his body and makes his metabalism speed up.
