Why do you believe?Do you believe out of fear? Do you believe for the love you get? Do you believe for the comfort? Do you believe out of fear of the unknown? Do you believe because you were raised to believe. I don't believe anymore because the world and man is far more complicated than the narrow window religion as shown us. There is no God there is no devil. We do messed up things because we can, we choose there is no one watching out for you or looking out for you. The sooner everyone wakes up from the "Santa like myth" we've been taught me might better know how to deal with the problems of this world by looking at them not through the Moral looking glass of a Bible but as problem that all of us have to deal with as the same organic decaying matter...

TO ALL WHO ARE AGAINST ATHEISTS:

Luvmexico, do you believe in all religion? roman gods? do you believe in buddhism? hinduism? I think your answer is that you do not truly believe in all religions, or literally in their writings, just your own kind of religion. You are probably an atheist to hinduism, shintoism, buddhism, and so on. You see, we are both atheists, you and I. It's just that I believe in 1 religion fewer than you do.

If you do not believe in those other religions, then you can understand how I do not believe in yours. Why should I believe in a religion that happens to be yours? You are probably also an unbeliever to many religions.

I am a Secular Humanist. I used to believe in deities, the afterlife, the soul, spirits. One day, I realized that to believe in those things was illogical. I could not continue to believe in things for which there was absolutely no evidence. I decided to live life without those things, and I'm very, very happy about that.

The real deal is less than one sentence: Burden of proof.

The thing is, I CAN sum it up in one sentence. It's logical, and it makes sense if you try to understand it.

We are all born as agnostic atheists (lack the belief in a god). I simply have never turned to theism. I'm still an atheist and will always remain as one because there is no evidence for theism. That's the "real deal" as you put it.

Because I've realized that deities do not exist. Therefore I am without belief in their existence and hence I am an atheist by default. Besides, every single one of us would be atheists if we hadn't been indoctrinated into religious faith in one way or another. Atheism is our default.

For the same reasons that any reasonable person of any faith doesn't believe in Zeus or Poseidon or Loki or Denthar or Rael or whatever gods or deities they don't believe in.

I just don't make any exceptions.

An atheist is someone who does not believe in a god.

Do you believe in Zeus, the mighty Olympian God? No?

Then you're a Zeus atheist.

Do you believe in Thor, the mighty Thunder God? No?

Then you're a Thor atheist.

There have been over 1500 deities in the history of humanity. So that makes you an atheist for at least one thousand four hundred ninety nine gods, and a theist for only one.

I simply take it one god further.

When you understand why you don't believe in Zeus, you will understand why I do not believe in your god.
