The most important thing to know in your case is that a dry socket is necrotic (dead) and has no blood supply. So, any drug you take wont help that much.

you can use clove to soothe the pain "this is what we use in the clinic".

The best thing to do is to go to the dentist to make sure everything is clean and sterile. What they will do is just put clove and irrigate the place until it gets better.

Good luck

Go to your nearest health food store an get CLOVE OIL. Don't worry, I am not just some random crazy hippie. This is what the dental assistant told me to do if i got dry socket over the holidays. This is apparently the same stuff they put on their gauze.

It costs around $7, and while it isn't the most wonderful taste in the world, it does a good job. Put a few drops onto a Q-tip and dab it on your dry socket. It will numb he area. You won't be fully cured, but you will begin to remember what it feels like to be human.

PS. You shouldn't be brushing that area right now, but you should be mixing 1 tsp of salt to 8 oz of warm water and letting it rest regularly in that area. If it doesn't hurt too much, try lightly rocking the salt water back in forth.
