I went to the doctor about ten days ago because i had symptoms of an uti well it came back positive i was put on meds. My right side where my kidney is has a sharp jabbing pain now i had a horrible headache i can't get rid of! I think i'm going to go insane! I made a appt to see the doc at 9:30 am tomorrow morning what can i expect now? Will he put me on more antibiotics? At least give me some kind of pain reliever i've tried all the other pain relievers such as tylenol and so on. It gave me no relief not trying to ramble on and on but what can i expect?

If you can get slippery elm supplement in your country, do take that too. It will help to coat the inner walls so drinking acidic stuff will not hurt so much.

It kinda sounds like the infection has moved up your urinary tract. It was probably originally in your urethra and bladder, and could very well have moved up into your ureter and kidneys. That's really not something you'd want to play around with, and you'll probably need a larger dose of antibiotics or a different kind of antibiotics. If you are used to going to the doctor every time you have a uti, the bacteria could also have become resistant to that antibiotic and you're definitely going to have to try to find a new one.

Up your liquid intake with water and cut out the sugary drinks like soda for at least until the infection goes away. Increasing water will increase urination which will help flush out the bacteria. Also, consume some form of cranberries. Either eat the fruit, drink the juice, or go buy cranberry pills. They help encapsulate bacteria so it doesn't multiply as easily.

Ask about getting a pain reliever when you go in. You can expect to pee in a cup again, then have them test you again, and then probably getting another prescription and possibly a pain reliever. If it is more serious, you may be asked to go to the emergency room for a more aggressive antibiotic.

sounds like the symptoms of a kidney infection.

start drinking cranberry juice to help with some of the pain and continue to take your medication that the dr gave you.

depending on how bad the infection is-the dr may have you admitted to the hospital overnight to receive i.v antibiotics to kill the infection. if it is not severe, then he might switch you to a stronger antibiotic.

for now-to help with the pain use ibuprofen. take 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.

if you have any of the following symptoms-report immediately to the emergency room (do not wait for your am appointment)

-severe lower back pain (so severe that you double over or can't stand up). this can be on one or both sides of your lower back

-fever of 101.0 or higher

-you begin to urinate blood

-nausea or vomiting

severe kidney infections can cause the kidneys to shut down permanently and can also cause permanent scarring on your ureters ( the tubes that lead from your bladder to the outside of your body.)

You may have had a bladder infection before that did not respond to the antibiotics. Your symptoms are consistant with peylonephritis or an actualy kidney infection which can come from a bladder infection. These can be severe and they may give you IV antibiotics.

Pain is a sign that your body isn't right, you might not want to wait all night, there are things that they can give you. You might want to go be seen at a after hours clinic or the emergency room. Especially if you're in that much pain!

Sounds to me like it could be a kidney infection. If this is the case, your doctor may well ask you to go to hospital for INTRAVENOUS antibiotics.

In terms of pain relief, paracetamol/acetaminophen PLUS some sort of extra stuff like codeine or ibuprofen

Drink plenty of fluids.

I don't know but start drinking so much water that you feel like you're getting water-logged.
