Lots of examples of similarity between passages in the bible can be found....

nothing unusual there - but makes me remember that God emphasizes things by repeating them in scripture. In this case, He really wants us to know who the fools are....

god bless!!

Yes, nice observation. The reason is that Psalm 53:1 is talking about Psalm 14:1.

God Bless!

What is the halfway point in the Bible? Psalms 118. Add all the verses up and cut them in half, thats 118. Email me for a great slide show about it...

btw, many things in life are learned by repitition, so maybe not being a fool is one of them....Maybe King David (who wrote the Psalms) just wanted us to know that a fool does such things,.....nothing against atheists, who need to find out on thier own that there is something out there and that the big band theory is a bunch of ....... in the eyes of scholars.

I took the time you consults both Psalms in Hebrew and found that if use a different version (in my case NIV), you can clearly see the differences.

Psalm 13:1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.

Psalm 53:1 The fool says in his heart,
"There is no God."
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
there is no one who does good.
2 God looks down from heaven
on the sons of men
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
3 Everyone has turned away,
they have together become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.
4 Will the evildoers never learn—
those who devour my people as men eat bread
and who do not call on God?
5 There they were, overwhelmed with dread,
where there was nothing to dread.
God scattered the bones of those who attacked you;
you put them to shame, for God despised them.
6 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When God restores the fortunes of his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Sharp observation. You would think after hearing it two times in a row, they might remember it and actually believe it. It's really important if it's mentioned often. There are other re-curring themes with greater import though because most of the Biblical audience is for ears of the believers. God is mindful of all humanity though and has a saying for every situation.

It's a pretty common literary technique to repeat something to drive the point home or for a number of other purposes. My guess is that is at work, or it's just a translation problem.

Yes. Good observation. You have been studying. Kudos. Well done. You will also find 2 Peter very similar to Jude.

The bible also says that you should stone people to death who pick up sticks on the wrong day.

My jewish friends and I don't take it all that seriously. Neither should you.

It's not surprising really. That's what a lot of songwriters today do.
