Most worms aquired through the fecal oral pathway. Meaning you ate someones infected poo. It might have been a small amount and you may not have notcied. Few worms and parasites can burrow through your skin for example the bottoms of your feet. Most common symptoms would be weight loss, diarrhea, blood in stool. Other symptoms are visably finding them in vomit or poo. Homeopathic remedies include a table spoon of diatemetious earth with a large glass of water or milk. I have a friend who goes bug collecting in the amazon and routinely has to deal with intestinal parasites. More practical solution would be to see your doctor and get some anti parasite medication especially if this is your first encounter with such a problem. Treatment can be 1 pill to a series of treatments.

you can get parasites from many different sources the most common being undercooked foods and water. symptoms include but are not limited to diarrhea, vommmiting, coughing, rash, stomach pain and cramps, bloating, fever, and weight loss. There are many over there counter treatments you can buy or can can eat a whole lot of garlic, but the safest bet to getting rid of them would probably be to go to the doctor they will prescribe something to get rid of the parasite.

It totally depends on what area of the world you live in, very few are common in the states. Symptoms are usually related to gastrointestinal problems, as well as malnutrition resulting from some worms stealing your nutrients. There's several types of anti-parasitic drugs, again, it depends on which one you have. I've linked to a USDA site with some info on common ones.
