I always take extra zinc and 1 gram of vitamin C every hour (although people's tolerance varies, start with 500 mg and work way up) and echinacea and cold-fx (ginseng) until my colds go away (usually a take about 2 days).

Yes, zinc is proven to shorten the duration of a cold and also helps boost your immunitites. I take 25mg of zinc daily and crush 1/2 of the tablet to put in my sons morning smoothie.

I take zinc at the first sign of a cold and usually I don't come down with it at all.

I've heard the same thing. I dont know how true it is tho. I have a cold I just got for xmas (thanks to my sick family lol) I've tried Zink drops but I dont like the taste. I do drink a lot of orange juice. But how do you really know how long the cold would have lasted without taking it??????!!!!!
